My rat family absolutely love these! It’s great to find foods that are both loved and healthy!

I was happily feeding the Teklad 2014 formula and my squirrel is at the age to go with the adult 2018 Teklad formula. She seems content and still eager to eat the blocks. This is a diet created for Laboratory rats and finally available to the public. This is not a diet for mice. The nutritional needs are different to maintain their health. I am happy that the brown paperbag has been replaced with an airtight vacuum sealed foil bag. No more crumbs and will stay fresh longer. My rodent has kidney problems, and siezures and this is the perfect diet for her. Her blood panels show excellent calcium levels. Most pet rodent problems begin with calcium deficiency progressing to paralysis, seizures, then possibly death. Envigo Teklad is perfect and will keep her healthy while receiving treatment. (Wildlife Squirrel Specialist is overseeing her treatment. Non-Releasable maloclusion.) My German Shepherd and wild squirrels love them too.

I'll be honest. This stuff cost too much but that is because of the shipping. On the other hand it is great rat food. My rat had small sores all around his head and shoulder area. Did a lot of research and thought it might be the result of too many people food treats and using just what-ever rat food. So I put him on a rat food only diet. He really likes this stuff. In fact it is hard to know how much is in his cage because he spends the night hiding it in all his play areas--I guess so I won't be stealing it. After about 4+ weeks he is totally healed up. I started seeing improvement within a week or so. I also think it has made his poop less smelly and messy. It is now a weird grey color but odor free and cleans up in a snap. (use a litter box for your rat--makes life easy. I used the plastic box/ packaging that ground chicken comes in, add litter, and for the BIG tip- Add a rock!! Apparently rats love to pee and poop on a rock! Clean the litter box, but keep putting that rock right back into it without washing. Works like a charm.) From here on out this is the rat food I will be buying-- even with it's rip-off shipping fees.

I can't say enough good things about these lab blocks. My rats love it and I wouldn't feed them anything else. They've been eating it as babies and it's nutritionally complete for their whole lives, according to their breeder, who recommended it to me. I buy a five pound bag every two or three months and they run laps around their cage when they hear me open the bag. They never get bored of it, in the same way my dog never gets sick of his Fromm kibble. This is food for the serious pet owner who wants the longest and healthiest lives for their animals. Even after all that, the best part is the relatively low cost and VERY fast shipping. I always get it way before the ETA. I'll keep buying this for any future rats I own. Thanks for a great product.

Our rats loved the food. They lived for 2.5 years and this was their staple. We of course also supplemented with veggies, berries, yogurt and more but they seemed happy eating these and def preferred them over other brands we have tried.

For people complaining about the shipping prices for this food, you can buy direct from The Rat Shop and the price is better. My rats love this food! One of them steals all of it out of his bowl and hides it in his litter box, which is kind of gross but not the food's fault. I've seen this food highly recommended on rat forums, and I feel better now that I know I'm feeing my rats a diet that is actually appropriate for them, rather than food from pet stores, which often does not have the appropriate nutrients and often contains food that aren't very good for rats. I mix this with Oxbow Regal Rat Food to provide them variety. This food is maybe more expensive some some, but they eat all of it unlike some rat food mixes. I bought a 2lb bag and it's lasted me over 2 months with 2 rats (mixing it with other foods).

I’m extremely happy with this product. My rats love it and the nutrients and quality are right up there with Oxbow. I’m making the switch from the 2018 formula to the 2014 since my two rats are adults now. The product arrived in 3 days when shipping estimate said it would arrive in about 8 days. It was packaged very well and the food comes in a super sturdy, resealable bag. I was very pleased to see when I dumped it into a ziplock bag that there were no crumbs or dust at the bottom of the bag. I really feel like I got my money’s worth. The only problem I’ve come around is that there’s no manufacturing date or anything to say when the food is good until. Otherwise a wonderful product, thank you!

I wish this had prime, or maybe some kind other shipping deal! However I was very happy with the product, Teklan is the best rat food but not everything people are selling is the real thing, or fresh, this company sells quality food. My rats adore this stuff, they grab it and do the circling away, "Dont touch, its mine!" thing so you know they like it! I feed this and Oxbow Regal Rat mixed with cereals and such and healthy fresh meals and I can tell you it really makes a difference. For instance I have naked rats and when we first ot them we had to use coconut oil on their skin or it would get too dry, but now, with a proper diet, they have wonderful soft skin, the furry ones are shiny and we have ratties that are still going strong pushing 3 years old. Rats can live to be 7 did you know? Diet is a big part of keeping them healthy. You dont have to forgo giving them treats, just feed them well!
