The water is calling
I love that Swim Like A Pro delves into so much more than swimming technique. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of technique discussion, and the companion online course is super helpful with practicing form. However, this book includes a lot of insight into the physics and psychology of swimming. After competing in triathlon for more than 10 years, I’ve only recently come to understand the benefit of structured swim training — even though that will never be my strongest event, and any speed increases will have minimal impact on my competitive event times. But the motivation and confidence that a strong swim has on driving overall fitness and performance is priceless. Swim Like A Pro makes me want to double down on my pool time!

Share the passion and learn from the best
I am a 66 year old new swimmer. Although I could avoid drowning it was impossible fo rme to think of swimming as a solution to a program of lifetime fitness. After taking a course in swimming I knew I wanted to become a swimmer.Purchases of swim bags googles and fins helped but very little. Youtube brought me SwimPro and now I am enrolled in their coaching system and listening to the book as I drive and then going back to the book for better comprehension. These guys are your best friend and gurus do a deep dive into swimming three months in and I love it

From a Former Competitive Swimmer Starting Over
There’s something strange—and a little magical—about stepping back onto the pool deck after two decades away. Your brain still knows the cadence of a perfect stroke, the rhythm of the flip turn, the slight nerves before the buzzer. But your body? It’s heavier, older, and nowhere near ready to rip a 200 IM.Swim Like a Pro by Fares Ksebati is like having that old coach you respected (but feared a little) pull you aside and say, “Let’s get you back into this—smartly.” The book takes you beyond surface-level drills and offers a holistic roadmap that covers everything from technique, dryland, and nutrition to the mental side of the sport. What I appreciated most as someone reentering the world of competitive swimming—carrying not just extra pounds but also the weight of self-doubt—was how grounded and encouraging the tone was. It’s not a "swim fast or quit" manual. It’s more like: Wherever you’re starting, we’ll meet you there, and here’s how to move forward with intention. The advice isn’t just for current Olympians or teen phenoms. There’s real application here for adult swimmers, especially those of us with a deep history in the sport but an unfamiliar relationship with our current bodies. The sections on preventing injury, building sustainable training habits, and even the mental fortitude it takes to get back on the blocks after a long hiatus—those were especially meaningful. It’s not a magic wand, but it is a powerful reminder that swimming like a pro isn’t about being perfect—it’s about approaching the sport with a pro’s mindset, discipline, and love for the water. While you can really tell that the author knew EXACTLY what he was talking about, for me it offered great structure; however, it occasionally felt more like a blueprint for swimmers who are currently in some form of regular training or performance-focused mindset. For someone like me—coming back after 22 years and navigating an older, heavier body—it could benefit from a bit more guidance on easing in gradually rather than diving right into elite-level frameworks. It reads a bit more like a training manual. Super helpful, yes. But it sometimes lacks the warmth or emotional hook that makes a returning swimmer feel totally seen in the messy, motivational gray area of starting over. That said, if you’re serious about competing again and ready to level up piece by piece, this book gives you a solid framework to build on.If you're looking for something like a pep talk from a fellow swimmer—almost journal-style I strongly suggest this author's other book 101 Ways to Swim Faster: How to Swim Faster and Prevent Injury for Life.Thank you for all this guidance from one fellow swimmer to another.

Fantastic book from from an expert coach!
From beginners to experts, this book covers the fundamentals all the way up to advanced (yet deceivingly simple!) drills to help you get the most out of your pool time. Becoming a better swimmer is a never-ending quest :)Make sure to watch the accompanying videos! They are extremely helpful and essential to help get a good sense of form and rhythm that might be hard to get from just words in a book.

This is more than just a how to book.
This is a great. I am personal trainer who happens to struggle with swim technique. The book is very well written and easy to understand. There is a link to the website and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to learn how to swim with good technique.

Visuals have to be purchased separately
I get a lot out of the author’s youtube channel and the info in the book is good. As a visual learner I was very disappointed to find that there are no pictures in the book to help illustrate the drills. Instead the reader is directed to a website where you have to buy an expensive video course that costs more than the book. So disappointed!
