Vortex 1200°C Professional Solder Mat

Only used for a couple of joints so far but does seem really good quality and should last.

With stood some extreme heat while doing a repair in a narrow area did the job for not a lot of money excellent value I would definitely recommend.

I got this Vortex mat for my son who was training for his plumbing apprenticeship, he had gone through a few, even well known brand name ones that he does not rate that much and cost him a tenner more!He loves this one, by far the best he has used so far he tells me, still using it over 4 months on, so must be durable.He said it was obvious this is of better thicker quality than his other ones, stitching is very good and still holding altogether, as is the actual heat resistant material with very little scorching marks he says to me.He said he always uses mapp gas, which is hotter than propane and this mat copes very well over time. He took great delight in testing it when he picked it up from me by demonstrating. He said you are not supposed to directly BBQ it with the torch really, as the flame should be on your pipe joints, but he just wanted to see if it was rubbish by holding a 8 to 10 second burst on it.. barely a mark on it after.He said it was a little stiffer than his last rothenberger one, because it was thicker, but is still flexible and far better in heat resistance and shielding. He said it was almost a Five Stars, he would have liked it to have been slightly longer and wider, by 100 by 60mm - though he says its perfectly fine for 98% of his jobs.It is actually 260mm long by 195mm wide, not the 290mm in description unless they have updated.He is very happy with it though and will get more of this brand when his current one reaches the end of its life, but little sign of that so far. 5 Stars he says though on Value & Heat Resistance.

Good product just don't point the blowtorch directly at it as it will burn. I use MAPP gas so it burns hotter anyway.Would get another for the price anyway. Nice and thin and good smaller size.
