My neighbor had an old Igloo cooler in his back yard. It was filthy covered with dirt and other things. The latch and the hinges were all broken. He finally went to clean up his yard and threw the cooler in the back of his truck with the other trash. I asked him if I could have the cooler. He wanted to know what for. I told him I'd make a planter or something out of it. As soon as he gave it to me I made the kids scrub it down with soap and bleach while I got on here and bought new hardware for it. Today it looks brand new and my neighbor is pissed at me for "cheating" him out of a good cooler.

Not as sturdy as original latch
I thought this would work with original latch post but it turns out the alignment is off. So as per the instructions, I installed the new post. After installing I noticed the latch propped the lid open slightly. Since installing new post requires screwing into plastic, reinstalling post to proper position creates a new hole close to the first one. The fix doesn’t feel very solid and once it fails will require patching old holes to hopefully be able to install the post properly. A shame that a flimsy, cheap plastic latch can take down an otherwise awesome cooler. This is another example of a company sacrificing quality and durability over cost. Next time just put a proper metal hinge on the cooler and charge me more. MAKE SURE LID IS PROPERLY SEATED IN CLOSED POSITION BEFORE INSTALLING NEW LATCH AND POST!
