WOW!! This Antique leather dressing has one a great job restoring a 15 year old leather work bag that unfortunately I neglected and left in a closet for many years. I recently discovered the bag shoved in a corner, all dusty, covered in piles of clothes hangers, stuffed against some cardboard moving boxes. Coupled with the general neglect, this has damaged the leather quite badly.I thought this bag was going to go into the trash pile, but decided to try to salvage it. It wasn't valuable enough to me to send it to a professional leather repair specialist, so I decided to do some research and try to restore it myself. After reading several blogs and forums on leather conditioning and repair, I noticed that Pecard's was one brand name that kept coming up, over and over. After checking out their product line, I decided that due to the age and condition of the bag, this was the product for me, so I ordered it.It arrived in two days because of Amazon Prime, and as soon as the package arrived, I went to work.Applied the first layer with my hands - was pleasantly surprised that this leather dressing does not have a bad smell or texture whatsoever! It had quite a nice texture between my fingertips, and I could see the leather bag literally absorbing this before my eyes. Left the first layer on overnight to continue absorbing, and checked back on the bag the next morning. Everything was absorbed - there was no residue. I could also see the suppleness of the leather starting to come back, and the cracking and peeling diminished. So I applied the second layer, again with my fingertips, and left it overnight again to absorb. This time, I noticed that less of the product had absorbed into the leather, but the bag was significantly less dry and cracked, and a lot softer and supple. There were still some rough spots from where the leather was most badly damaged, so applied a third layer and left it overnight again. By morning, the bag seemed to be mostly back to its original condition (minus the spots where the dye flaked off due to the amount of damage I caused). I was very happy with the results.As a final step, I took some black shoe polish cream I already had, and began applying that to the newly conditioned bag, to try to cover up some of the worn spots from the damage. I realize those spots are irreparable, but between the Pecard's Antique Leather Dressing applications and the shoe polish cream, the bag looks far better than I could have ever hoped to achieve as a DIY.I am very pleased with this product and would definitely order it again.

I've got a 100+ year old leather salesmen's bag that was getting pretty dried out. If I'd let it go much longer it was going to start breaking off the leather handle straps and cracking all over. I bought this tub and used most of it to "over" treat this bag. I cleaned it with a damp microfiber towel first. Let it dry. Using a different microfiber towel I started working this stuff in. I did this twice over a full day. The second coat I put on super thick and let it set overnight in a warm area. Next morning I wiped off what hadn't been soaked into the leather. Not the exact way the instructions tell you to do it but I'll tell you what, that bag is soft and flexible again. I treated it back in Dec 2022 and haven't done it again. Bag is still flexible and looking great 7 months later. I even bought another tub and used it on the leather seats of all my cars. Works great. Just use less on the seats. Don't want it to come off on what you're wearing. LOL

My first time trying this product. It's simple to use and brought back this WWII-era Yougolsavian sling as far as anything possible could. It arrived the next day.

This is the absolute best for old leather. I don’t think I’ll use anything else on older (pre-loved Louis Vuittons) from now on. It works on really dried out (as in cardboard dry) leather. The trick is to not flex it too much when it’s cracked and dry. Just put this stuff on over time, and when the leather seems to be softening up, then it’s okay to use. It won’t be like new, it will still have cracks, but it will be okay unless it’s broken into two, then it’s probably beyond conditioning and needs replacing. I used this on an old keepall with dried vachetta and it works. I can use the bag. It’s a little darker at first and then lightens up, it has an odor like crisco lol I don’t worry about it snapping into two pieces. I have actively used the bag for travel and it’s fine. It’s good to put this stuff on periodically, to retain the moisture. I also use it on a backpack and it improved the dryness immensely. It can also be used on patent leather and it even takes away some of the stickiness.

Just like the other reviewer, I also used it to restore a WW1 binocular leather case. It took a few days of re-applying and worked wonders. Wish I had known before I started cracking the leather by moving it. Also applied it to a leather duffel bag that started cracking, and again it worked great. Would like to mention though that it's not fun to apply to cracks and other hard-to-reach areas. For those, Weiman Leather Conditioner spray is doing a very good job as well.

Great product with shrinking packaging

Probably the best leather conditioner on the market, I have used it for over 30 years and it is fantastic for making dried out leather supple again. Recommend it totally. Does a great job on my World War 1 German leather binocular cases. Really help with the cracked leather. I cannot recommend it enough!

I've used Pecard Antique Leather Dressing for many years. It's great for outdoor leather treatment. I use it on my leather jacket, baseball glove, soccer shoes, dress shoes, winter leather gloves, leather furniture, et al. You can use it on wet leather. I recently found a pair of dry crusty batting gloves I mistakenly put away wet. A little Pecards and they're supple again. I learned of Pecards years ago from an OG shoemaker who swore by it. Well I swear by it now. It's simply the best.
