It is pretty sturdy not delicate.

7 inches high, 4.5 inches wingspan, 3.5 inches deep. The size of the base is 3.73 x 3.5 inches

I gave it away as a gift last year. I think it was about 12 inches tall.

Can this gargoyle be placed on either side of a fireplace without taking any heat damage?

If it is too close to the heat, I doubt it, not sure if its a plastic or composite but it would probably melt.
