We purchased a new Samsung 65" QLED 4K TV to replace a 15 year old Mitsubishi 1080p rear projection TV. We were very excited about our new TV but when I was hooking it up, I realized it did not have any analog composite (red, white and yellow) inputs! I was very disappointed with that discovery because we have an old Pioneer Laserdisc player (420p analog output only) that still works perfectly; and we also have a relatively large collection of Laserdiscs that we purchased long ago for practically nothing from a local movie rental store when it was going out of business. We still enjoy those Laserdiscs, many of which contain rare concert footage that is no longer published; and we really wanted to be able to continue to be able to watch those discs. Plus, it was always fun to watch the expression on some of our younger guests' faces when I would pull out a Laserdisc and load it into the player and they would ask: "what the heck is that"? In short, we were far from ready to retire that older technology. My initial thought was to return the new TV and buy one with composite analog inputs; but I soon discovered that most (if not all) new HD 4K TVs no longer have analog composite inputs. What to do. Well, I thought a would check on Amazon to see if anyone sold some kind of gizmo that would allow me to connect the old Laserdisc player to the new TV with an HDMI cable. Sure enough, there is such an adapter and this product is it. So, I ordered one, it was delivered two days later, and I am happy to report that it works absolutely perfectly! In fact, this adapter greatly exceeded my expectations. The adapter not only converts the old analog signal to an HDMI output, it upscales it to 1080p. From there, the new Samsung TV further upscales the 1080p output from the adapter to 4K; and the end result is absolutely stunning. We simply cannot believe the quality of the picture from our old Laserdisc player and discs (a 40 year old technology) that we now enjoy on our new TV courtesy of this great adapter product. The adapter is very small, a snap to connect, and works flawlessly. It even came with a short USB cable to power it; and I discovered that our new TV has a couple of powered USB ports alongside the HDMI input jacks so that I could have easily connected the adapter right next to all of the other TV inputs. I decided, however, to use a longer USB cable (I had several unused ones in a drawer) so that I could connect the bulky analog cables to the adapter in a location hidden behind our TV stand, thereby reducing some of the "cable clutter" right behind the TV itself. At about $12 with free Prime shipping, this product is also an absolute steal for anyone who longs for analog composite inputs into a new 4K flat panel HDTV.

Sound is great. Works a charm on old consoles. Do be aware there are no upscaling features or stabilization so you will see a LOT of waviness/digital artifacts. Contrast and color accuracy is amazing. Some old consoles can drop the video signal when fading to black, and the converter can be a little sensitive to this and revert to a blinding blue screen. This is a little annoying but rare, but for the price it's hard to beat.
