Another Hit for Wilson
My eight year old daughter is a huge fan of Jacqueline Wilson, which is probably true of most eight year old daughters, given Wilson's popularity at the current moment. Sapphire Battersea is the second in a new departure for Wilson. Best known for writing fairly gritty modern day dramas, Wilson has now turned her attention to the historical novel, with a trilogy of books about a young girl called Hetty Feather. Sapphire Battersea is the second book in the series, and this is the unabridged audio book. My daughter found it a little confusing at first. She had not read Hetty Feather, but she listened to it all the way through. Then we had a chat about some of the things she struggled with (i.e. details about the historical period), then she listened to it again and loved it. Then she got Hetty Feather out of the library and listened to that. She is now listening to Sapphire Battersea again and is pestering me as to when the next and final book in the series will come out. I would say therefore that it is a resounding success, although be prepared, as in many of Wilson's tales, for woe. Both books in this series made my daughter cry vast amounts, but in a good way, so she tells me.

Excellent book
This is the sequel to Jacqueline Wilson's 'Hetty Feather' book. It tells the continuing story of Hetty Feather, having found her mother and real name (Sapphire Battersea), as she becomes a servant and meets new people. I read this book in three days (395 pages) it was so good. Sapphire Battersea' is a very smooth and pleasant read which is appropriate for both older children and early teenagers. Jacqueline Wilson doesn't describe most of the things in too much detail, so the story goes on without interruptions.Overall, a wonderful book which I definetly recommend. But the reader must read 'Hetty Feather' first, otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

totally brilliant!
This book is the best book I have ever read. It is a magic tale of a child who lives in the Foundling hospital (her mum is secretly the deputy cook ,Hetty knows this)she changes her name to Sapphire but she and her mum are caught in the bedroom , so they have to leave the hospital. Sapphire travels everywhere looking for work and her mum. Will she ever find her? I would highly recommend this book and I will assure you that it is a good buy. this is a brilliant read. I started reading , and I just couldnt stop! The characters are amazing , interesting and overall it is a gripping story. The end is a little sad , but it gets positive as she strives through the mistakes and worries she has...All I can say is that you should read this book and I will give you a WARNING! this book is dangerously addictive!!! Not only is this book the best of jaqueline wilson, but also it is the greatest book you can buy for children!this book has lots of different elements and suprises so go on ,get stuck in!

Emotional read
My daughter (aged 9) says this was 'VERY emotional' and that I should probably read it (perhaps when I have a spare evening!) My daughter really likes books by this author and again her friends all read these too! I think there are 4 of these books that follow on from each other-we have them all!
