An invitation to murder
This book was about a country weekend at a large house. The main character was visiting her brother for a party weekend. But some deaths occur and the heroine is the main suspect. Needing to clear her name our heroine sets about solving the crime issuing the fact that this house had been her family home in her childhood. A clue is issued by our heroines father and the clues are followed to find a priceless average egg. Which l save the day and the future of the house.I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it as a good read.

"Archetypal murder mystery"
You don't have to search too far for the keywords that sum up this first in series. Cozy. Mystery. Amateur sleuth. Of course it's all been done before almost a century ago now, but if you're seeking a few hours of escapism then Mary Blake will suffice. Maybe it's because the main characters were associated with the acting profession and celebrity, but I couldn't warm to them.

Cosy, traditional, murder mystery
Mary Blake, recently 'stood down' from her role as a TV detective on UK television, finds herself at a party at her childhood home, where the guests include her replacement in the role. When said replacement is murdered in the night, a locked-door country-house mystery has everyone baffled. Until a second guest is murdered. Mary Blake has, of course, a motive - the odious starlet who has replaced her in her TV role is in the next bedroom to hers. But equally obviously she didn't do it (obvious because the sub-title is 'Mary Blake Mystery Book 1'). So which one of the other guests did it/them? Mary decides to try to find out. Not a bad first book in a series, and I will probably buy Book 2 to see how that goes.

An invitation to a murder
I like books that are easy to pick up and read, this fills that box, it introduces you to the characters and gets you to want to learn more about them. (More stories to read).

Quite an enjoyable quick read
I read this whilst on holiday, I don't usually read at home as don't have time. This was really easy reading, passed the time on a sunbed, quite enjoyed it.
