Q: Does this work with just a whisper? A friend has a paralyzed vocal cord and cancer so her voice is very soft, a whisper. Would this amplify her?

I use the amp as a docent, so I don't know if I would say just a whisper, but as a lifelong aviator I do know something about transmitters. For the price it works well. The mic will need to be positioned right next to her lips to pick up any sound. If you get feedback move the mic farther away.

Q: I am an open air preacher: In a normal talking voice with this turned all the way up, how far would people be able to hear me clearly?

Since my husband can only speak in a whisper, I am not totally sure as to how far this amplification would go for a normal speaking voice in an outdoor setting. That said, I would guess-timate that this amplifier would be better suited for an indoor classroom than outdoor, extended amplification. I think one question would be, how large of an open-air area do you need to project over? If it's not too large, this might be somewhat helpful.

Q: Will this unit play music? We are hosting a small neighborhood 4th of July parade, and I'd like to use this as a "one-man-band"

Yes, it does play mp3s, but only amplifies for PERSONAL listening, it will definitely NOT lead a parade. Only the voice microphone will amplify pretty loudly for a crowd. You could probably place the microphone next to the speaker of your music source (cumbersome), but might work.

Q: Can i use the microphone while charging the battery? or must unplug the power adapter when using the microphone?

Yes you can use it while it's plugged in however the cord is not very long.
