Very solid safe
This is a good, sturdy safe. It’s a good size for securing several items. Along with my important documents I will also use it to store several handguns. The safe can be secured to a wood or masonry floor via 2 lag bolts and masonry anchors that are included, although you will have to drill the holes through the bottom of the safe. Only a problem if you lack the proper drill and bit. I looked into a variety of safes of several different brands and concluded that Sentry offers the most for the money. Many are not fireproof at all, and those that are fireproof are not rated for as long or as high a temperature as the Sentry safes. Now, I did experience 2 minor issues: first, the delivery information stated that the safe would be delivered inside my house into the room I want it placed, and that I would be notified by text ½ hour before delivery on the specific day that is given when the order is placed. While UPS delivered it a day early, there was no advance notification and the driver merely left it at my door. He hadn’t driven off yet, so I told him that delivery instructions specifically said delivered into the home, and he stated that it is ILLEGAL for him to enter my house! So expect to have yours left on your porch and carry into your house yourself. And it is heavy!Second, it arrived with a dent on one corner. Oddly, the shipping box was undamaged and the safe is packed in styrofoam. It must have been dented before it was packed at the factory. I called Amazon customer service and told them that I would prefer not to send it back, but would like a rebate on the price equal to what I would have gotten by purchasing a scratch-and-dent item from Amazon Warehouse. A couple of photos were emailed and the rep quickly quoted me a refund amount that was most satisfactory and it was issued as an Amazon Gift Card. All-in-all a good experience. You can find safes for less money, but you won’t find any that offer as much protection.

A little piece of Ft. Knox in your house
Having actually been stationed at Knox for some time, I can attest. I’m very happy with it in every aspect. It weighs 80lbs. so no one is easily running with it. It feels like a solid steel block, the lock bars and hinge are both hardened steel and you’re not getting through them quickly. It is capable of using multiple different combinations to open it. The most applicable worth is it’s fire rating, that temperature for that long is praiseworthy. Plus, after all, it’s a Sentry.

Fairly nice safe for basic use
I like how heavy this safe is and how durable the outside seems, it would be hard to walk away with. My only complaint is that the handle feels like very cheap plastic, as well as some of the shelving on the inside.

Basically Satisfied!
I am very happy with this particular Sentry model. I just received it last week via UPS, and the UPS driver had to push it in to my home, or actually from his truck with his legs because of its weight (over 90 pounds). The only negative thing I would say about this model is that its handle appears and feels kind of on the cheaper side on account of it being made of, I think, plastic. But it is not like a gorilla or a professional wrestler is going to be accessing it anytime in the future, or at least trying to discover and capture its contents, so I guess I can live with it being the price I paid for it. I read the other comments before finally deciding on this model and noticed a couple of negative comments from consumers regarding this feature, and all I have to say is that you get what it is you pay for in the end. I priced a couple Sentry Safe models with metal handles, and they each were almost $1000, or just under that at $800-$900. All and all though, like I already stated, I am satisfied with its features and roomy interior, up until now anyway. Also, the shelf inside is made of plastic, which was a bit disappointing to me, since I purchased a smaller Sentry Safe through Amazon.com in February 2013, the X105, and its shelf was made of the same metal with which the safe itself was constructed. I was expecting the same kind of shelf, but I have to remember that the first safe I purchased back in the earlier part of this year wasn't to protect against fire. This one is made to withstand a fire so maybe that has something to do with its shelf being made of the plastic-type material. I don't know, since I am not a fireman nor even know anything whatsoever about what kind of material is best, when it comes to protecting an interior's belongings from fire or flood! I decided to purchase this safe only because I needed the extra security room for my valuables. I already had filled the first one up, being that it only has 1.0 cubic foot of space. In fact, I might need to purchase a third one soon, if my purchasing habits keep going the way they've been going lately. In the near future, you'll probably notice an additional review posted on a bigger more expensive one. Probably one manufactured by Sentry. I highly recommend this safe by the way, as well as the Sentry 1.0 cubic foot X105 if you're SentrySafe X105 Security Safe, 1.0 Cubic Feet, Black looking for one a bit smaller.

Good value
This is least expensive safe of its size made by SentrySafe. SentrySafe is brand name of Master Lock Company, so solid American firm, but made elsewhere. This is only model not waterproof. Fine for those on high ground not in danger of hurricanes or river flooding. Easier to open than waterproof models. Comes with one flat shelf. Additional shelves of three types are available for separate purchase.Comes with one factory-installed permanent 5-digit code to open lock. In addition, owner can add two of their own 5-digit codes and change them any time like hotel safes. So up to three working codes.Combination lock is battery powered. Batteries located externally in a hidden compartment, so can be replaced to open lock if they age out.Only complaint is not about the safe, but rather the Amazon sale. Seller merely ordered from Walmart to ship directly to me with $20 mark-up. First time to experience that in 20+ years dealing with Amazon.com. SimplySafe website provides list of sellers, all major chains. Check 1st before Amazon purchase.
