Great book. The only party book you'll ever need.
Arrived quickly and was in better shape than advertised. In fact, it was described as "Good condition. Has someone's name in front cover." The name in front cover was the AUTHOR'S. We got an autographed copy for the price of a used book! Couldn't be happier. My daughter, who dreams of being a party planner has checked out ALL the party books at our library, but THIS book is the one she checked out repeatedly so we finally decided to buy it. It is a comprehensive guide to planning the perfect party and includes theme and craft ideas. If you are only going to buy ONE party book THIS is the one.

Fun Read
I bought this for my daughter as a present since she likes to throw parties. She loves to read through it and plan for our next bash!

A Lot To Love
Planning Perfect Parties: The girls' Guide to Fun, Fresh, Unforgettable events is a fun, friendly, and colorful book geared toward (and written for) teens and tweens. The party ideas, favors, etc., are modern and interesting and cover a diverse group; I can't imagine that any girl won't find a favorite for her next party. The book breaks down into four parts: Planning, Party Inspiration and Ideas, DIY Projects, and Party/after party. These sections include planning, cleaning, preparing (long term and short term), invitations, props, favors, drinks, food, thank yous, and interesting tips on manners, etiquette, and dealing with personalities. It's fairly comprehensive but presented in a very friendly and approachable style. From a parents' standpoint, this is a great book that helps teens/tweens understand all that goes into planning a party and gives them reasons to be fully involved and responsible for its success. Easy to follow recipes and instructions create motivation and the all-important planning is detailed with large, tear out-able checklists. Discussions on being a great hostess and ensuring that everyone is happy are great tools that will be useful later in life as well. This could have been a vapid tome on partying but instead valuable skills such as planning, organizing, people skills, cleaning, and more are included. The images and graphics are bright and fun. The kids pictured look to be in the 16 year old or so range - appealing to tweens and teens. The party ideas range from mardi gras to an otaku (Japanese manga/anime) themed party. And there are some great recipes in there from funky apple drinks with confections decorating the glasses to cake pops.Accompanying the book is a website with even more ideas (and updates to the book). The website gives a good idea of what's in the book and can be checked out in advanced. In all, there's a lot to love for this book; most especially because it is written for the girls and not for the parents.Received as an ARC from the publisher.

It's ok
Not a lot of great ideas. More focus on teen parties. I was looking for more of like a broad selection of parties.
