I use it specifically in my efforts to both educate and coach leaders and key stakeholders during transformational change projects. It has the breadth of a primer while also going deep on key topics that merit significant attention like change project leadership and the change curve. Let's use the change curve as an example... first the Kubler-Ross Grief model and the Bridges Transition Management model are thoroughly described with references to the source material (you will find these throughout the book which I find very helpful). I still consider those models to be the most important of the many change models out there. Then parts of those models are leveraged to develop a new model that makes explaining the complex nature of organizational change much easier. When I read it the first time I had a hunch the author was a practitioner herself... in fact the author was a change practitioner doing client work for many years before going academic, now she is a university professor teaching undergraduates and graduate students about how to approach change work the right way. This book will do the same for you and or your clients. I think this book is a must have on a change practitioner's bookshelf. I am so excited to hear a new edition is in the works... Review: Excellent if you are leading organizational change - My no nonsense review: This book will take you through all the steps needed to lead and manage people through organizational change. Creating lasting change is arguably one of the most compelling challenges for organizations. Leadership action must be deliberate & systematic. We all know the world of work has changed dramatically, and that change stakeholders may have different or sometimes opposing perspectives about change and its impact on their work life. This book puts leadership of change within these much needed contexts. Get the book and enjoy the challenge!!!

Great summary of most of what you need to know about organisational change
The second edition of this book brings a lot of context to the new change pressures that are impacting all organisations in a post Covid era. The concepts in the book are not only applicable to the larger economies, but in fact many examples and case studies are from emerging markets where realities are often very different. What I particularly like about this book is that it is a wonderful summary of various concepts that you would like to know when understanding organisational change. Having used the book as a student and now as a trainer in Change Management, I find it well structured and a great place to start when you are having to understand or explain about organisational change.

I really excellent book that combines a thorough grounding in social science theory with the latest research to provide practical business applications. It can be easy to become cynical about change efforts within business, but this book has a in-depth and applicable set of ideas and tools for how to manage the process effectively. I wouldn't necessarily look at this as solely a "change" related texts, it's one the best surveys of the mass of literature surrounding people and leadership. It was a key text on my MBA and has provided inspiration and provides really helpful information to address real business challenges.

Excellent book with tips and summaries and key points for every chapter. A book I wish I could by more copies and give to my friends who are leaders. It’s that good.

it is the first time I have given a review that's how good this book is. Whilst there is some confirmation of existing knowledge here, it gives clarity on issues by grounding them in research and stretches one's knowledge/awareness further with new science. I like the blend of practical tips and good summary pieces at the end of each chapter. I train and coach in change mgmt and will be recommending this to all my delegates, managers and leaders.
