The Wimbourne Book of Victorian Ghost Stories: Volume 6

These are all written by women and the introduction giving the life stories of the women is in itself fascinating.As with many anthologies, the stories are a mixed bag. Some are excellent, some rather predictable, but I found plenty to enjoy, and as most were written at the height of the Victorian obsession with the paranormal, they do give a particularly 19th century view of the 'recently departed'.
