Should have installed this last year
I love the whole concept of the Interlock System and the whole setup was fairly simple for me to do... although it's recommended to have an electrician install it for you. I finished the install yesterday and tested it today. I connected my 7500W Generator and it powered almost the entire house. I have mostly gas appliances so the load is much less. However, I was even able to run the Central A/C. The whole system cost me around $300. I know an electrician that offered to do the install for $650. All things considered, I prefer this to either an Inline System or a Transfer Switch. For me, this just makes more sense. Didn't do it in time for the freeze but, where I live, I'm pretty much guaranteed a couple of big power outages each year.

SQUARE D 150-200 AMP SERVICE “INTERLOCK” SWITCH
Well made, with all the labels necessary to guide you, and in the case of fire department, the info they needed when on property. If your handy with a drill, and screw drive, you can do it. “ IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO WORK AROUND ‘ELECTRICITY’, GET A PRO LICENSED ELECTRICIAN TO DO...You will be drilling into the face plate of your entry electric box. My son is an electrician, and I am “very familiar” with wiring...Be Safe. WORKS GREAT WHEN INSTALLED PROPERLY.

Fit perfectly and easy to install
This item works perfectly when installed as per the supplied directions. It is expensive for what it is, but the interlock is necessary to make the generator power input breaker almost foolproof.

American quality! well worth the money.
The interlock is good old American quality! Fits just as it should. Im not a huge fan of the zip ties but it makes complete sense to have them where they belong especially if someone else ever works on the panel or you sell your house. Mine shipped without a third nut and screw. I emailed customer service and they shipped one within the hour! From my experience, don't listen to the folks at Lowe's! They tried to tell me the only option is either a costly automatic transfer switch or a "line-off-gen" manual knife switch. Bottom line, if you are on a budget or using a suicide cord to your dryer, this is well worth the money for the safety and legality of backfeeding issues.

Drill bit was bent
It's a nice set up and when installed correctly it will work perfect for a power outage. I thought it was maybe a little pricey but that's ok. I went to install it and the drill bit was bent. I have a good set of bits so not a big deal. That's all that kept it from getting 5 stars. I'd buy it again and or recommend it to anyone looking to buy one.

Works well but be careful to get the right one.
Worked very well and easy to put in. I received it before the specified date. This was the second one I bought for my Square D RC816F2C00 outside power panel. I bought another one but it’s for the inside panel and had to return it. Be careful to order the correct one.

Great service and price
Thank you so much for carrying this item. To order it from Lowe's or Home Depot it cost $160! Compared to Amazon price (your Price) of $60. And it works beautifully for our generator hookup.

Great Kit
This kit was fantastic.I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a full on transfer switch (or paying a bajillionty dollars for it), and this fit the bill.It had great documentation, with pictures for each of the breaker styles. Providing the correct size drill bit was a nice touch, as well as the stickers for placement afterwards.I was very impressed with the quality and thoroughness of the kit.The only downside is that the generator breaker has to be in the top right break spot (which means you may have to move some breakers), but you're handy, so that shouldn't be a big deal, right?

Not CSA approved for Canada but should be!
Easy to install with clear instructions. Once installed correctly, the system is essentially "idiot proof", there is no way to back-feed to the line with the generator back-feeding the panel. This is the most cost effective way that I have found to feed your entire home with back-up power assuming your generator has the capacity. The only downside for Canada is that this system is not approved in the electrical code but I feel it should be. Many people back-feed panels in Canada due to our aging infrastructure and frequency of ice and convective storms.Still....worth it!
