So Far, Brilliant
We had a different well-known make of breadmaker quite a few years ago. It took my wife msny attempts to get the ingredients just right so the loaf would not be like a brick. Eventually she sorted it, but the paddle used to stick in and subsequently the spindle just got too stiff to turn at all. We stuck it in a cupboard for some time but when I needed the space I decided the local tip would have more use for it.After some deliberation and reading the reviews on here I bought this model. So glad I did. From day one the loaves came out prefectly with no messing about. Just followed the instructions for a medium size 2 hour loaf and the result was perfect every time, even with different flours.. And it smells great while cooking. First loaf cost cost £124 plus ingredients but the unit cost is coming down with every loaf. Then of course there's the convenience of getting a great loaf without going to the supermarket for a poorer substitute.

Does what it's supposed to do
I'm really pleased with this bread maker. Only making wholemeal bread so far, but with great results. Tastes better than shop-bought stuff. Loading the ingredients and switching it on takes less time than going to our local shop.

Excellent bread maker
First of all I can say that the seller was extremely efficient, as I ordered the unit one day and go it the very next day and that was not on Prime. This is my third Panasonic breadmaker and I can quite honestly say that they have all made wonderful bread. There are three reasons for giving a score of 4 and that is squarely aimed at Panasonic. The first reason is that they are quite expensive for what they are. The second reason is that they have changed the bucket design at the bottom, meaning I cannot use my former one as a spare part, same with the nut dispenser which has changed. Thirdly they seem to have been built to only last for around 5 or 6 years when with thought they could and should last longer for the price they are sold at. Having said that, I get great tasty fresh bread most mornings, save money on buying shop bread and have bread with no strange addatives. Far better to have the product than live without it!

Excellent
both for baking bread, and for making dough without getting hands sticky; use the right flour and it will prove fine and tip out into a cast iron pot for baking in oven, without losing bulk; give it extra rise time thoughthis replaces a previous model we had, worth every pennyto the reviewer who said: The instructions tell you to add the yeast first, but this would mean that it would be in the water from the start - er, no, the instruction tell you to add the yeast, then the flour on top, then the water/salt etc, works for me

Not Cheap But Think it's Worth the Money!
Really pleased with this bread maker - it's best version Ive had over the years!Just to note - this is NOT version that has separate yeast compartment - mentioning as I thought it did from some of the wording in description!

Practically Perfect 100% Wholemeal Overnight Loaf!
I've never been able to make a 100% wholemeal loaf with a breadmaker or by hand - I always had to use 50% wholemeal and 50% strong white. However, this Panasonic breadmaker produces practically perfect loaves whatever flour is used. The photos show a 100% wholemeal loaf made overnight. Total time in the breadmaker was 9 hours, 4 hours delay and 5 hours for the bread program. I used the Wholemeal recipe provided in the manual but I did modify the instructions since there was no mention of anything to account for the delay. The instructions tell you to add the yeast first, but this would mean that it would be in the water from the start and potentially start fermenting before the start of the bread program. So I proceeded as follows:Put the butter, water, salt and sugar into the breadpan. Add the flour and make a small well in the top of it. Put the yeast into the well to keep it out of the water. Put the pan into the breadmaker and set the delay time (total time before you want the bread to be ready). The more expensive versions of this breadmaker have a separate yeast compartment that obviates the need for the above procedure, but it's a lot extra for a very minor advantage. The programs are much longer than those of my previous machine (Goodmans) but the wait is well worth it!You do have to read the manual quite thoroughly to understand how to operate the machine - for example, the white bread programs have crust options but the wholemeal recipes don't - the crust option button does nothing on wholemeal settings and initially makes you think that something has gone wrong.Overall this is a first class breadmaker.

good first impressions
This is my first bread making machine. I bought this as a like new offer with a good discount. The instruction book is well laid out in my opinion. I put my machine on a heat proof mat as i don't have a marble work surface. I have so far made wholemeal bread an i am pleased with the result. Early days but so far would recommend.

Does the job, but awkwardly.
My sd2500 finally died after in excess of 10 years of constant use so decided to go with Panasonic again. Essentially it is the same as the old SD models, but with a few slightly adjusted programme times. The build does not feel as solid as the older models. Indeed some of the plastic initially distorted around the badly placed vent at the back, however after 8 months has not gotten any worse.By far the biggest design fault has to be the change in orientation. The unit now requires much more horizontal space in the kitchen which I simply do not have. Placed in the space the previous model occupied it is awkward to use and either the display and controls are at the back out of view, or the door is at the back and unreachable.Overall, still a good machine (used 3 or 4 times a week, every week), but badly redesigned hence only 3 stars.
