This thermometer works OK, but it is VERY slow in response time. It takes far too long to zero in on a final temp to be a really accurate tool for cooking, especially meats... your steak could literally by overcooked by the time it shows an accurate temperature.

I waited too long to use this thermometer to return it. It was broken out of the package. The LED display never displayed numbers just dashes that were constantly changing. I thought perhaps it needed new batteries (changing the batteries would still have gotten this thing 1 star). Sadly that did not fix the problem. I looked at the length of time it took me to test it and figured it was not worth trying to get a replacement or a refund. It is a piece of ****. Don't waste your money.

Worked once. I was using it to gage the temperature of candle wax.

I use this when cooking steak, the temperature is accurate for a perfect doneness.

I used this for both meat and candy. It's accurate, quick to respond, and worked fantastically for both.
