The Story for Children, a Storybook Bible Deluxe Edition Review: Wonderful x 2 - Wonderful x 2! The paintings are beyond beautiful. People have seen me paging through a copy and wanted one for themselves. I am giving them away faster than I'd ever imagined. It says "For Children," but adults love to have copies for themselves, their adult children, and grandchildren as well. Each story is brief, but complete -- easily readable in one setting. Max Lucado's "summary" comments from the Father's perspective are brief, beautiful and accurate. Enjoy! Review: AGE-APPROPRIATE AND BEAUTIFUL - I'm a retired elementary school teacher so I know kids' books. My 2-year-old grandson was bored with the 40-year-old children's bible storybook I'd used for my own kids (stories too long, pictures too sophisticated). This one is sooo much better. Lucado tells the story in language he understands (he's 3 now) and he stares at every picture with terrific interest. I can see him loving this book for many years whether I'm reading it to him or he reads it for himself. Certainly up to at least 10 year-olds.

Exciting and touching!
I enjoy reading this to my 2 year old grandson. The well written stories are true to the Bible's portrayal and keep his short attention span. The message to us from God thru each story is very touching. I find myself in tears at the end of each chapter. A good read for children and adults alike with vivid pictures!

Kids Love The Story for Children
This storybook Bible includes over 60 stories that allow readers to discover that God's story is not just a collection of random adventures--it's a complete story that tells about God's great love for His people. What better way to read God's Word to children than The Story for Children? The illustrations are vivid and very well done and are sure to capture the imagination of even the youngest child to those who can read themselves. As a grandmother, I keep The Story for Children with my favorite books for those precious times of sleepovers when our grandkids and I want special time together. There is no better way to instill God's truth in children in a such a manner they can understand and grow in their faith. I give The Story for Children by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee a 5-star rating, and I highly recommend it. Review by: Rita Kroon, author of: Womanhood: Becoming a Woman of Virtue (women's Bible study), and children's short stories I Couldn't Resist and Help! I'm Trapped.

Best Children's Bible I've found so far
Been looking for a while to find a children's bible that would have more substance, but be interesting for children both in the way it's written and illustrated. This has been the best so far, although possibly designed for kids a bit older. My daughter is 4 and we read a new story every night. There could be more picture as there are only a couple per story, but all in all we are happy with it. There variations I've found were either too in depth for the age and/or lack of pictures...or are one page per story kiddy stories without much substance. These stories are a couple pages each along with notable scripture passages. Every story ends with a short "God's Message" synopsis as well, which we really like. This so far as been the best blend of message and pictures for my children.

Awesomely beautiful artwork! Faithful text adaptation.
This adaptation of Biblical text is for the most part NOT dumbed down as most children's bibles are. On a few pages I hear Max Lucado's "warm fuzzy" interpretation of the Bible coming through, but for the most part the text is faithful to the Word of God. The artwork is realistic, beautiful, the pictures help convey the stories, and they actually inspire wonder and amazement -- which is exactly what illustrations in a Bible ought to do. I hate all the campy, cartoony, trendy, even ugly artwork that most all the other children's Bible adaptations use, in their misguided attempt to be "relevant" or "catch the kids' attentions" or "make the little ones feel warm fuzzies" about the Biblical narrative. I highly recommend this one for children who are pre-readers through early readers. Once they are confident readers, they're ready for a full, non-adapted Bible (although non-cartoony illustrations like in the ESV Children's Bible (http://www.amazon.com/ESV-Childrens-Bible-Bibles-Crossway/dp/1581348924/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1438016131&sr=8-2&keywords=esv+bible+illustrated) are still helpful to the kids.

Stunning illustrations. Biblically sound. Excellent kids Bible.
I love how the authors divide up the Bible and summarize for kids. The illustrations are stunning!

This is such a high quality gift! The pictures are vivid and represent the beautiful multiculturalism of all God's children. The pages are high quality and so is the hardcover binding. The writing is captivating, as Max Lucado's biblical writing always is. A wonderful book and introduction to the Bible for kids.

Brilliant way of telling the bible to wee ones.

Great book for kids. Breaks bible stories into short stories over 4 or 6 pages with amazing graphics. There is a small take home with "God's message" summary for kids to understand. My kids have really enjoyed this book and I have enjoyed reading it with them. I enjoy that we can do little bite sized stories with our busy schedules.

Beautiful book, great for children. My little one is learning from this book. When I pray she opens the book and reads in her own way, she's only 2.5 years old.
