Yes they are.You can trim them slightly with a safety razor, many people put a piece of scrap glass on top of the grinder grid-much smoother as you grind, chips stay on top of the scrap glass.. Rainbow Art Glass.

Q: does morton twister work

I have not used the Morton Twister but have heard some good things from associates that work with wire. Brenda is right about needing something to hold the other end of the wire, a small bench vise would be another solution if help is not available to hold the other end.

Q: What material is the grinder mate made from?

It is a very heavy plastic with a metal spring. It will last several years if you do a lot of stained glass work. Eventually the part that holds the glass will wear down from use. But I could not live without mine. It saves your fingertips!
