Q: Does this work with the murs transmitter?

Yes. We use this with the Dakota Alert Model M538-BS (Multiple Use Radio Service - MURS) Base Station Transceiver and the MURS Alert Probe Sensor MAPS

Q: Will this work with Dakota 2500 series alarm?

MURS and the 2500 series are different / separate and this should not work with the 2500 series.

Q: can you hook up 2 remote chimes to the base station?

This appears to be a wonderful product. We had to return, the battery system is not sufficient.

Q: If you hook this up does the annoying “Alert Zone 1” go away and get replaced with the tunes noted?

I purchased the additional chime. The alert zone one doesn't go away and is super annoying. I really like my older model better and it didn't use up so many batteries either.
