ACTUALLY EFFECTIVE for dandruff caused by DRY SCALP, maybe a little too effective!
5 stars for the shampoo and detox oil. 2 or 3 stars for the conditioner. I had dandruff caused from dry scalp (as opposed to oily) and experienced itchiness and tightness usually on day 2 or day 3 hair. And obviously really embarrassing flakes that would fall every time I ran my fingers through my hair. Because I have dry hair I didn't want to shampoo too much, so I would only wash my hair once a week, and of course this would also cause product buildup which exacerbated my dry scalp condition. So the great thing is that after 2 usages of all 3 products my scalp is moisturized. No more dandruff!!! When I inspect my scalp I do not see any flakes. But it may be a little too moisturized because the roots are heavy and I'm lacking in volume. Before I could go over a week before washing my hair, now my roots get greasy day 2. That's probably a good thing because i should be washing my hair more anyways and now i have an actual reason to.. I read in some reviews that it's like this in the beginning when your scalp is getting used to a new product, and also that it's a sign to use less product in the shower. After experimentation I noticed the conditioner was the main culprit, because the last time I washed I used a different conditioner and my hair felt much lighter and didn't take several hours to air dry. The conditioner is heavy and I'm not a fan. Next time I will try using a lot less product since it seems to be a little too effective.Overall if you suffer with dry scalp dandruff this will really moisturize it and solve those problems to the point where you might be dealing with different issues! Which isn't a bad thing. I think my scalp finally feels like what I imagine a "normal" scalp does.

Maybe not a good choice if you have super soft water
I wanted to love this product soooo bad, but it just didn't live up to the height for me. I didn't have dandruff or any other scalp issues to begin with so maybe thats why. I didn't mind the texture of product, as I have been using 'cleaner' products for a while now, so I get it doesn't lather or work the same as regular shampoos and conditions that you would by from say Target. With that said, I tried this for a few weeks and I had the hardest time getting the product to rinse out. I even tried parting my hair in sections to rinse it out(my hair is fine with lots of it and only shoulder length) and I was still left with heavy residue after the shower. Not sure if this is due to having a water softener or what. I still recommend trying the product because it does work for a lot of people and has good ingredients, but just know it might night work for you.

Not at all what I expected but I LOVE it!
I'm of East Asian decent and I had "perfect hair" growing up and used whatever Pert Plus, Head and Shoulders, Clairol Herbal Essences Shampoos, even occasionally the Ivory bar soap the entire family used and didn't think much about it back then. In my teens and twenties, I donated over 9' of hair to charitable causes and was great at taking it all for granted because it would always grow back, fast. 30+ years later and things had changed with my hair for the worse. I lost half of it to stress, have scalp psoriasis now (thanks universe!), and my poor lifestyle choices and likely hormone swings from peri-menopause and fertility treatments left my hair unrecognizable. It was so knotty that I ripped out clumps when brushing my hair (so I bought all the hair brushes and combs trying to help with that- newsflash, they didn't). It was so greasy that I was washing it every day and so much was falling out every shower yet I had dandruff so bad that even my husband commented when I scratched my head in the car one day, that it was snowing all over the car. I actually wanted to shave it all off but my husband begged me not to and well, he has to look at me everyday so I left my long gross hair in a bun every day. Then I tried all the special shampoos from Italy, all over Asia, and natural shampoos, and shampoo bars and bought so many hair masks and sometimes things would get better for a wash or two but nothing so dramatic that I kept going with them.So I read every A&A review and bought this $85 kit, hoping for a real change. This review is my attempt to pay it forward. 2 months later and I am THRILLED to report that my hair is gorgeous, now. It is not the same as when I was a child but it's even lovelier, I think. Apparently my stick straight hair has a natural wave to it (I had been told this by hairstylists before but they said the length/weight of hair, pulled it straight) that even my waist length long hair doesn't weigh down, now. My hair is lighter and bouncier than ever before. Also, my husband is using it and his curly thick hair is quite lovely. He wasn't having any hair problems aside from mild occasional dandruffy flakes but he has noticed that his scalp feels better and he doesn't even need his occasional Head and Shoulders anymore. I can and do wear black and i'm not covered in flakes! It hasn't cured my psoriasis but my scalp definitely doesn't feel nearly as itchy and tight as it used to. I lose so much less hair in the shower, now, it is night and day!!!Notes on discoveries made about things often mentioned in reviews:In 2 months for 2 people (me with waist length hair and my husband with not quite man bun length hair), we've gone through 2 bottles of shampoo, 2 conditioners, and are only halfway through 1 scalp oil treatment bottle. A little goes a long way so that first shocking price isn't quite so steep with regular use. $44-50/month for shampoo and conditioner puts it on the same level as Function of Beauty/Prose/Davines, etc. And that's for both my husband and myself. I would imagine a single person would get more than a month out of each bottle, unless they are using too much product each time or have floor length hair. 1 bottle of scalp detox is looking like it will last the both of us about 4 months so $10/month.Shake the bottles before you use them.Splash a little water into the shampoo and mix in your hand before applying to the base of your neck and move upwards. Rinse and REPEAT. Sometimes I have to do it a third time (but it's rare) you get a feel for it over time if you need it the 3rd time. I'm impatient so I don't wait the minute, each time, so maybe that would help even more. I rarely wash the ends of my hair anymore and it's been fine. My hair squeaks (squeaky clean!) in this stage and it freaked me out in the beginning (because -oh no, did I just strip my hair?!?) but clearly my hair is thriving so it's normal for what my hair needs, here. The conditioner- is still strange to me in the shower, but I love what it does so I've stopped questioning it. My hair literally absorbs it in, like a sponge. I spread it out in my palms, start at the ends, and squeeze/rub/pat my way up until I run out of conditioner, usually about chin length and then pat the sides of my head. It feels like nothing is rinsing out when I rinse (I rarely wait 5 minutes- I scrub up the rest of me while i 'm waiting for it to sink in and then rinse everything off at once). And with virtually nothing rinsing out of my hair- no bacne!!! (side-eyes Davines conditioners). Also it's a non-offensive light herbal scent. As someone who is scent sensitive, I'm very grateful for this! The scalp oil: a little goes a long way there and I do let it sit for 15-30 minutes before my weekend shower. That first use was the freshest, lightest my scalp has ever felt but I suspect it was because now my scalp is not weighed down with gunk so it doesn't feel as freshly wonderful anymore. But I still like it enough to use it almost every week. My husband uses it about once every other week. The first time I used everything, the final air dried state of my hair and scalp was the lightest and freshest it had felt in a VERY long time, maybe forever. Those first 2 weeks, I worried that maybe my hair was too dry and maybe it needed more something so I purchased the A&A hair mask and got it delivered the second week. But I never ended up using it (it's still unopened under my sink) and by now I feel like my hair has adjusted. I'll try it one day when I'm maybe giving myself a spa day but I don't NEED it, now.The only thing I really dislike about these are the pump tops for the shampoo and conditioner. I hate them with the burning flames of a 1000 suns. 1 of the 4 just never worked. The other 3 started working fine but quickly stopped. I've surmised it's because the inner tube/barrel of the pump falls out and even if it manages to stay in with all the daily shaking, it does not reach the bottom of the container so the bottle is still half full when it stops working. Is it so hard to just have a flip top cap like every body lotion/shampoo out there? In the meantime, I have saved better pump tops from random high end hand soap dispensers (at least the collar size is a standard one!) and just replace the them in the bottles when the pump tops they came with inevitably stop working but I'd MUCH rather have a flip top cap, please!!!!!! If that's not possible, please have someone look at better pump design!!!!!!!!

Lovely Products
I've integrated these 3 products into my haircare routine for a little over a month now and I've been happy with the results. My hair tends to be on the oily side with some scalp sensitivity, occasional dandruff, hair loss and damaged ends. So I was thrilled to try out Act + Acre since the brand utilizes ingredients that promote scalp and hair health without using heat throughout the process. After using the products I've noticed that my hair feels thoroughly cleansed after each wash and my scalp isn't as irritated as it was previously. My hair feels a bit fuller and softer as well. The scalp detox is a nice consistency and I enjoy massaging it into my scalp about 2 times a week for a pick me up. The cleanser is a different formulation than most shampoos I've used, because you need to add water for it to really emulsify. I find that the initial cleanse can be a bit tricky to get a good lather, but the second cleanse is easier to do so. After cleansing, the ends my hair feel a bit rough and tangled, so conditioner is an essential step. The conditioner smoothes and detangles my hair beautifully. I also love the lightweight and refreshing scents of all the products. The packaging is minimal and practical. There's also a lot of product, so these items will last me a while, especially the detox. Although I wash my hair every other day, my hair still gets quite oily by the second day, so will have to opt for a dry shampoo on those days. Overall these products have helped revive my hair from years of bleaching and hair dyeing. It's definitely lengthened my shower regimen, but it's worth giving a lil extra love and care to achieve healthier hair.

Give it time
I wanted to write because I've not found a lot online regarding honest feedback for this product. I have to say, give it some time. Experiment with quantity. More isn't always better. So here goes.1) Detox - use sparingly. Like don't overdue. A couple drops here and there around the head and massage. Let is sit. It'll rinse out much easier if you don't put a ton on your hair.2) Shampoo - does not bubble the way your everyday shampoo bubbles. The packaging suggests a double wash. This is 100% accurate. First wash, use less than you think, rub into hands and add water to create a lather. Then apply to hair. It'll go on and instantly soak into hair. Add a little more water and massage then rinse. For your second wash, add more water in your hands to create a good lather. Then more water to you hair so it is good and wet. Once you start rubbing shampoo in this second time, your hair gets a little more bubbly, or close to what you are used to. If you don't add water, you will not get this. The first few times I used the shampoo is was so taxing. Now, I know how to wash.3) Conditioner - This stuff is great. Once you get a good shampoo, this will go on so easy and feel so amazing at the end. Use less than you think. As it soaks in, you realize you really didn't need that additional squirt.4) Packaging - I ordered FBA (sold by A+A but fulfilled by Amazon) and I received two pump lids to put into my shampoo and conditioner. Super easy to use in the shower. No fumbling with hard to twist caps in the water.I also read tips on their site that you should blow dry your hair from the roots first. So I've started doing that and my hair feels so light. I could still use a straightener and frizz control oil if needed, but honestly a quick blow dry is all it takes now. My hair is naturally curly but easy to blow dry straight and this stuff does the trick to keep frizz at bay.2) C
