I always enjoy opening a book from K. C. Crowne. Rene Cole is a single mom with a new promotion to Internal Affairs and getting ready to move back to her hometown. The problem with her first case isn't the charges but the cop that's being charged, Martin Ferrel. Martin has been suspended from his homicide detective position pending an investigation of stolen money from the evidence room. Fighting to prove his innocence he sure didn't expect the one night stand from high school to be the investigator from IA. Easy peasy he'll just seduce her back into his bed to get her on his side...wrong. Rene hates Martin for what he did to her back in high school but she won't let him know about the daughter they created that night twelve years ago. As the case becomes clearer Rene and Martin can't keep their hands off each other but someone is watching them and blackmailing Martin to take the fall. When Rene comes clean with her secrets Martin's protective instincts take over because the prep is threatening not only him but Rene and their daughter. With a plan in place will they catch the real bad guy or well Martin loose the family he just realized he had and wants to keep??? Great characters with off the charts chemistry and great best friends that are a hoot. The typos have been fixed in the final copy but i didn't find that they took away from the story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book via Booksprout and purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Looking forward for more from K. C. Crowne.

I loved this version of Big Bad Daddy. Martin is a detective, who pushes the edge of his badge. He believes fully, that that law is in place to protect those criminal elements, from escaping justice. Rene, is a new IA investigator, is charged with getting to the bottom of claims against Martin. What takes place is jaw dropping behavior; sexual tension, and the need to protect Martin, at all costs. Don't miss this New mystery, you will absolutely adore!

What is it with authors and abrupt endings. I truly dislike that. It ruins the book for me even though I liked it til then. Would it kill you guys to let us know a little about their future. Sure we can guess but that's not the points. Did they have other kids ? Did he get along well with his daughter ? . Think about it . I'm not the only one who feels this way. I've many reviews that agree. Now I don't want to read the next although that was my plan.

This A Secret Baby, Enemies to Lovers Romance is really a wonderfully well-written story The storyline is sweet, steamy, emotional and intriguing. The well-crafted characters have a wonderful chemistry between them and are realistic. Their romance is a real roller-coaster with a lot of ups and downs. Loved it. Rene and Martin meet again when she's investigating him, the childhood sparks are still there. Will Rene let go of her childhood hurt and let Martin in? How will he react to Jenny? Did he commit the crime Jenny is investigating him for? Will there be a HEA?

Martin was Rene's first in high school. When she finds something out she runs away from him. Fast forward 12 years later she has a daughter he doesn't know about. She also moves back home and her first Internal Affairs investigation is about him. What will a woman scorned do? Will she want the truth or does she want him locked up?

The male lead is a narcissistic sociopath with no redeeming qualities. The female lead is alternatively professional and completely taken in by the male lead’s manipulation- which is unbelievable consider is supposed to be an Internal Affairs detective. If you’re happy reading about a guy manipulating and using a woman, this is decently written and has few typos.

Was rooting for Martin all thru the book, so glad they got the past sorted out, would have liked a longer Epilogue...maybe year later, as a family.
