There's nothing to run the examples on
It's not a bad book as such, but there is no longer any hardware available from the usual 'maker' outlets that will run the software examples as written - so I am told. You can get hints that things are available, but the trail will tend to go cold fairly quickly.

Great little book on IoT
A great little book on getting started with the Internet of Things (IoT). It contains information on how to read sensor values and how to write to actuators. It gives a concise introduction on the Internet of Things (Chapter 4, which can be downloaded from the book's website), shows how to use a IoT device as a client, and how to use a IoT device as a server. It talks about network challenges (NAT) and how to solve them with a relay. Finally, multithreading is covered. The potential problems are mentioned, and how they can be solved with the Actor model. This chapter is marvelous! The book is useful not only for owners of a Netduino but also for people owning an Arduino, because the challenges with IoT are the same. The book is well written and a good starting point for people interested in the Internet of Things (IoT). Highly recommended!

Real basic introduction to HTTP protocol and the Netduino
If you are interested in the topic just download the official documentation or some practical examples on the internet.Half of the book is about learning how to http post/get with .NET which can be done better in 10 minutes with MSDN.
