After our Ontario contract ended in April, 2007, we decided to produce a higher quality line of knives outside of the mass production capabilities of Ontario. The new ESEE Line (Formerly RAT Cutlery) is considered "mid-tech" in the sense of quality and manufacturing procedures. This means you will notice upgrades to sheathing, fit, finish and detail on ESEE knives. Most important, ESEE is now in a position to respond quickly to new product development and upgrades to existing lines. All of our designs fit the bill of desirable field cutlery when it comes to toughness, comfort, and cutting efficiency. Unlike a lot of manufacturers, ESEE doesn't just release a new knife because it looks cool on paper - we personally field test each new design prototype before is makes it to the production stage. Once we make the final design tweaks and the knife is put into production, we test the design again during field outings Stateside and jungle survival classes in the Peruvian . We also have users around the world that test our knives and submit feedback. When you buy a ESEE knife you know you're getting a knife designed by real users.

Good deal for these scales
Number One: Arrived sooner than expected which is always a good thingNumber two: They fit the Canidiru perfectly. I will add some blue lock titeNumber three: I used a 3/32" allen wrench. I got lucky and picked the right wrench but I think they should at least tell customers which wrench they'll need. A lot of products include their own wrench but not a biggyNumber four: As other reviewers have noted these Micarta scales make the Esee Canidiru much more comfortable. They also add very little to the handle re being concealed horizontally, my EDC positionNumber five: Contrary to some reviewers I don't find these scales that costly. Having built knives for a number of years I know the cost of material and labor and I think these scales are reasonably pricedNumber six and last: My disclaimer. No one paid me in any way to write this review.

If you need scales the micarta will do. But...
Great G10 scales, easy to fit on and happy with the end product. Only picked these over micarta due to the alleged bacteria situation caused by micarta’s porous surface. But a handle really is needed for the candiru.

Excellent in all regards.
Turns a hard to control little knife into a superior cutting tool. Excellent in all regards.

Mandatory if you bought the Candiru
These scales (handles) are fantastic. Well made and they fit perfectly. The texture and feel are great and they make the Candiru knife fit nicely in my hand (I'm 6'0" with average sized hands). The outer layer of canvas is absorbent but quickly dries. The short answer is that if you bought the Candiru you need to buy these scales. It's a completely different knife without these and is nearly impossible to use comfortably without them.

Perfect fit handles for the ESEE Candiru
I really like the ESEE Candiru size. But what I immediately found out after purchasing the knife, was due to the small size that I liked so much, it was hard to do much with it because I could not get a sold grip on the small knife handle. I purchased these handles and they made all the difference. The handles are nice looking, clean up good and fit the Candiru perfectly.

Very light, good fasteners, nice-looking (which is not very important unless you're givng as a gift), indexes well.Normally I like the sure and quick indexing and weightlessness of paracord for a small hidden defensive knife but these work for me. Preferred solution, IMO.

Does what it's supposed to
I feel it should come with the knife already. But it does what it's supposed to do. Adds comfort and makes it easier to get the knife out of the sheath
