On the Run: Book 1 in the Ryan Kaine series

Loved this book!! Just finished it and ordered books 2 &3. They're coming tomorrow, what joy!! Extremely well written, exciting, couldn't put it down!!!

Ryan Kaine is an engaging protagonist with a high moral code, driven by guilt and determination to get to the bottom of who and why, and ensure they don’t escape blame and punishment. I enjoyed the cameo appearances of two of my favourites from previous books and the strong female characters Ryan unwittingly finds himself dependent upon. Laura, a vet, becomes involved when she treats Ryan’s wounds and is forced to flee with him. Sabrina is playing a dangerous double game, and such are the intricacies of the plot, I wasn’t sure until towards the end whether or not she could be trusted.As always, the details in Kerry Donovan’s books, whether it’s the weaponry and military aspects, as in this case, or the police procedural, are all extremely well researched and totally believable. The dialogue is snappy and realistic, particularly between Ryan and his contemporaries, characters have depth and credibility and the storyline is well plotted. A suspenseful and gripping tale from an accomplished writer and storyteller.

I’m not a Lee Child fan – I prefer David Archer’s Sam Pritchard – Noah Wolf and Cassie McGraw – Scott Mariani’s Ben Hope – Ian Loome’s Liam Quinn and Robert Singleton and Blake Banner’s Dead Cold Mysteries.So you see I like a GOOD thriller or detective story.I’ve come to Ryan Liam Kaine a bit on the late side. This book was on sale for £1.99 so I thought I’d give it a go. Oh, am I glad I did. A rip-roaring tale of evil machinations, double crosses, a wrong man on the run – even if he did “do it” – a fight for justice and to clear his name. The chapters are just as I like them – short and move along the story fast. Didn’t take long to read, mainly because I couldn’t put it down.I recommend this book to anyone who reads the books of the authors I mentioned at the top of this review.Anyone who looks for my reviews will know I don’t do them all the time but this book deserves one. Five stars all the way.

I was unable to put this book down! Fast paced, action-packed and totally plausible in this day and age! This is an author to follow!

Fast moving and technically accurate. Easy to read, entertaining dialogue and a interesting, well-developed plot. Kaine is a likable badass who is more like Nick Stone than Jack Reacher. I look forward to reading more of these books.

Good book, enjoyed the read, will be getting the rest in the near future.

Riveting and unputdownable the story unfolds with unexpected twists and turns with a bit of romance thrown in as well. I will look forward to Book 2 eagerly as I am sure other readers will.

A very entertaining, fast moving story. The characters are well described and likeable. The plot of the story is well told and in detail.
