I bought this to replace an older syringe used to fill printer ink cartridges. I needed to refill fountain pen cartridges and the larger syringe made it difficult to do so without wasting a lot of ink from my bottle inks. This mini-syringe pulls just the right amount of ink to fill a standard cartridge without wasting more than a drop or two of ink. What is most impressive about this syringe is that it can be totally disassembled - all pieces. This makes it incredibly easy to clean and reassemble. I found that I had a problem with the spring tension on it being a little too tight and I wanted to see If I could get rid of the spring. I figured on using a pair of nippers to just cut off the spring, but lo and behold, the tiny red cap at the top of the plunger section if the syringe is removable ! It was on a little too tight to twist off by hand, so I got a pair of channel lock pliers, wrapped the small red cap in too ends of the napkin and gently twisted the red cap counterclockwise to see if it could twist off. It did! Once the cap was off, I was easily able to remove the spring, and now I have a plunger that can easily be moved up and down without too much resistance. Enough to pull up and deposit ink in a cartridge, but still tight enough where friction holds it up or down in place so it doesn't slip on you. This tiny syringe is wonderfully engineered - and you get 6 of them (although I probably only will ever need 1 or 2). My Kudos to the designer of this product, it was very well thought out (for a very inexpensive product).

They work well except that the plunger doesn't spring back all the way up; needs to be pulled up the remains half way

I use these to fill my ink cartridges and to clean my nibs. In the beginning I lost the needle part down the drain on one of them just because I didn’t make sure it was snug. But the parts fit well together and clean easily. I have 'name brand' needles for fountain pens, but I keep going back to these! Easy to clean. Description of what to do and what to expect are spot-on. Finally did retrieve metal needle from j-trap LOL!

....when it doesn't have ink in it it slides up and down just fine...however, when filled with ink, the plunger sticks and when it dislodges (with slight pressure) it blasts ink out of the empty cartridge and all over the place. I've tried with a few different brands of ink (Pelican, Quink, Waterman etc) with the same results. Not really worth the cost and a waste of ink...the result is inky fingers, countertop, floor, clothes...you get the point.

I odered this item. Then I found a couple of conventional syringes I had used in the past to fill fountain ink pen cartridges. I attempted to cancel this order, but not in time. The conventional syringes I had unfortunately had no needles so they were useless for my needs. This item arrived and I am HAPPY it did! This item is PERFECT to fill Technical Pen reserviors cartridges and cartridges for my Fountain Pens! Arrived two days early!
