I was a bit skeptical when i purchased a second hand book of Amazon as to the quality of the book when it will come. However the new books would be very expensive and probably not worth it since my son would check out the book for a couple of weeks and then leave it. This works out to be an economical purchase. Uday loves the book. We have discussed at length some of the fastest trains in the world like the TGV, Japanese Bullet Train but the train he is most fascinated by is the Mallard (it's on the cover) which is the fastest steam engine train in the world. Infact he was so fascinated that i showed him youtube video's later on the Hyperloop and Maglev to show him how trains of the future are likely to evolve. The book is advanced for young children - he is a lot more interested in the pictures and me telling him the back story.

This is an excellent book. Sturdy binding, heavy stock, and quality printing. I bought this DK volume and the DK volume The Smithsonian, Train: The Definitive Visual History. Both are excellent with high quality hard bound covers with the EXACT SAME CONTENT. If you compare descriptions, you would not know. I kept both, and will gift one. The Train Book, while nicely printed and coated, has a white background of woven fabric. The Smithsonian Train is completely printed and coated. You choose.
