A bit gritty on the spoon, but smooth and tasty in tea.
The Steens Raw Multifloral Manuka Honey MGO 40+ (7.9oz) arrived and I immediately taste tested it and used a spoonful in my morning green tea with lemon juice, a healthy beverage I recommend. I have sampled Manuka honey from many different suppliers both from New Zealand and Australia. The Steens Manuka honey is similar both in smell and taste to other brands of Manuka honey I have used. However, the Steens Manuka honey is not smooth when eaten from a spoon, but a bit gritty. The grittiness is gone when the honey is stirred into hot tea. One problem I have that readers should be aware of is that honey loses its health giving properties if the tea water is too hot. For medicinal purposes, it is better taken by spoon than put in hot tea. This honey is MGO 40+. MGO stands for Methylglyoxal. MGO is a unique naturally-occurring chemical compound found in Manuka honey that gives it its unique antibacterial properties and make it one of the most sought after and rarest honeys in the world. A study in 2008 by researchers at Waikato University found that the ‘non-peroxide’ antimicrobial activity (NPA) in Mānuka honey (i.e. it's antibacterial properties) was directly correlated with its MGO levels. So, the higher the MGO, the higher the NPA or antibacterial properties of Mānuka honey.” This honey has a fairly low MGO number, which makes it affordable.Bottom line: For me, this Manuka honey tastes good and appears to be a healthy addition to my diet. It is not prohibitively expensive. Recommended.

Not nice
I'm a Kiwi, and I love my honey from home. The flavor of this honey was disappointing.
