Worth buying even if you already have many of the albums
What a beautiful box set! I’ve been a Caravan fan since I first heard ‘In the Land of Grey and Pink’ and ‘For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night’ when I was at school. I’ve collected all of the classic albums and remastered CDs up to Blind Dog, plus a number of others, so I wasn’t sure if I could justify buying this set, nor if I really needed it. In a moment of weakness I went for it and I’m so pleased I did. Although I had seen Caravan when Doug Boyle was with the band, I didn’t have any of the albums, but he adds so much to the overall sound with some fairly outside lines. It’s worth getting to have the albums with his contribution, but then there’s also all the live material. The live recordings are of variable quality, but essential listening for a true fan.I’ve compared each of the albums with the remastered originals released around 2001-2002. Although it seems they’re the same releases (same date), they don’t sound the same. Sometimes the versions from this box set sound better, but on some albums the single albums are better.I don’t use a CD player, but instead rip the discs to a server and stream from there. I found one track, the last from the Unauthorised Breakfast Item studio album, wouldn’t rip. It’s disappointing that the track entitled Frozen Rose is only available on the BluRay disc of In the Land of Grey and Pink and not on any of the CDs, since it’s as good as any of the others on that album.Despite these minor niggles, I’d strongly recommend this set to any Caravan fan.

How to do a box set!
Not being a over indulgent fan of the band, this expansive and perhaps expensive box set was the ideal way to immerse myself into the fabric of Caravan. Over the years, I've dabbled in the more well known albums, and despite enjoying their content, never took it further than that.I suppose in many ways, I saw this an an investment as much as anything else, but decided to take the plunge after reading other reviews. I've built my music collection up over forty years, however this easily surpasses anything else I own in terms of quality, attention to detail, and musical coverage of this renowned band, who have perhaps never achieved the accolades they deserve? At £275, as it was when I took the plunge, I did question the value for money angle, however, when weighing in at a colossal 37 discs in total, including a staggering collection of until now, unreleased live concert recordings, the music alone possibly justifies the price. What really sets this apart however, is the additional material included in the box set, the center-piece of which is the beautiful "coffee-table" book that is staggering in it's detail of the band's history. Add to this a signed band photograph, a replica tour programme, special edition fanzine and several other bits and pieces, and you start to get an appreciation for the level of care and attention to detail.Like other box set releases by Madfish and Snapper, this will certainly soon disappear, at least for recommended prices, so I'd suggest if interested, don't delay. You certainly won't be left disappointed.

Cunning Stunts
I've held off getting this box set for a while simply because I've got all of the main albums. Bought them in the early days of vinyl and then on cd. I just thought, do I need them all again? Plus, the cost at over £230, at the time was no small amount. Well, yes is the answer to this luxurious and lavish box set. This box set was put together with love, attention to detail and then some (big credit to whoever did this). Over 30 CDs all remastered including all of their main released albums, a blu-ray of In the Land of G&P (not the whole album) and a host of live stuff. But that's not all. There is a huge quality hard back book included with reviews of all the albums, history and more. There are press releases from For Girls, posters, a concert programme from the 1978 Blind Dogs Tour, a Family Tree a map of Canterbury with all the pubs the band used to play and drink in. It's like Christmas for Caravan fans and with the latest drop in price (as at Nov 2022 £175.00 on Amazon, I've seen it for nearly £500). Highly recommended.

Stunning
This is a significant investment of cash, but this is how a box set should be done. Beautiful outer packing and a stunning hardback book, not to mention all the artefacts, signed print etc... and the 37 discs of course. A real beauty, celebrating a fine band.
