A solar controller built like a tank. Sincerly expect it to perform for years and years to come. More expensive than others but with the complete line of inverters, chargers, solar controllers etc. all connectable together Victron has this market covered.

We are using the Victron 150-85 charge controller with two Longi 445 bifacial solar panels connected in series. 79 volts, 14.3 amps, rated watts are 890 STC for the two panels combined. However, doing the math, 79 x 14.3 = 1,129.7 watts due to the bifacial gain. We were reluctant to think that 1130 watts was remotely possible but the Victron controller seems to be indicating that it could happen. This controller is so efficient that even on days with less than optimal conditions, the panels rendered considerably more than their rated 890 watts by over 200 watts. We are also running a Solar Epic (Epever 4215BN) 150 - 40 charge controller to manage a single Longi 440 watt bifacial panel mounted between the two other panels on the same mount. By comparison to the Victron, it is no where near as efficient nor as quick to respond to varying available light. This controller has never reached the panel's 440 watt rating let alone exceed it and this is a very well regarded charge controller. In all honesty, it doesn't hold a candle to the Victron. The Victron is not only more effective and efficient, it also miles ahead in technology. To set up the Epever for use with lifepo4 batteries requires input of lots of complicated data on the clumsy MT-50 remote monitor. It's not for beginners. To set up the Victron for the same batteries, it's as simple as setting a switch to the desired battery type and it's done. If a person wants to set their own data profile to suit their requirements, it can be accomplished by downloading and installing the Victron Connect app onto a cell phone and accessing/inputting data via bluetooth. It's very easy and reliable. So far, we're very impressed with this charge controller despite its considerable cost. Considering the power gains, if this unit has good reliability, it's worth the extra expense.
