This magnetic touch latch is heavy duty but not very big. It build with strong spring and magnet, it doesn’t need a lot of force for you to press it. But there are some tips for you to open or close it. Please press hard to the end at one time to close it. You can look at the video above to see more detail.

Q: Would this work for a full size door? Like one you would use to get into another room

we have used four of these on full size doors into closets and they all work well.

No, they are not a positive latch - they are a tension latch. Anything inside the cabinet could bang the door open during an earthquake.

Q: Does this require a gap between the back of the door and the face of the cabinet to operate the pushing to open?

Yes, but not much more (if any) than a bumper pad might require. It is about the same as a hidden hinge creates - roughly 1/16. These are easily adjustable with just a small turn of the tip of the magnetic rod which pops out to open the door - so it might take a few tries to get it adjusted just right to minimize the gap required.
