Maverick HC-01 Hero Electric Hot-Dog Steamer, White

I got this as a gift for a friend's graduation since he absolutely adores hot dogs, and I conjured up an elaborate plan to give this steamer to him and then make dinner for him and his family, so needless to say, I was really hoping this would live up to expectations. And it did! The thing is uber-cute, and less than 10 minutes later, we had six great hot dogs! They came out (after the dog started barking; so awesome!) very hot, very juicy, and delicious! The skins had split open, which is always a good sign for me that they'll be hot all the way through. And they stayed hot, too, throughout the meal. The dogs are lifted off the drop-pan so they're not sitting in their own fat and grease, which is really nice. And, the thing can't be easier to clean! Just lift the drop-pan, dump it somewhere, give it and the cover a quick wipedown, and you're good to use it again whenever! I would definitely get myself one of these in the near future, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick dog!

I was a little skeptical when I opened the package. It does seem a little light weight as far as construction goes but it does work great. I'm not a big hotdog eater but when I want one I don't want to wait for the water to boil on the stove. This was just what I was looking for. Easy to use and cleans up fast.........us single guys like that ! It cooked the dogs great and the barking wasn't too bad I guess........lol. I think it took about 7 minutes to cook 3 dogs. I'm glad I bought it and if you like hotdogs, this would be a great purchase.

I've tried fairly fat sausages and skinny hot dogs and all have turned out well once I learned the proper water ratios for my taste.I live at 6800 feet above sea level on the North side of Colorado Springs and at this altitude you need to use more water to make sure the cooking time is sufficient to fully heats the hot dogs or sausages. Using the included measuring cup I wind up using that measure plus half again to get what I believe are properly and thoroughly heated results.Definitely like the way the interior tray is set up to steam the hot dogs and catch any run off of juices and oils - help keep the unit clean and I believe prevents any build-up on the heating element.Overall, for its simple purpose, and after learning how much water to use, it turns out a consistent and reliable cooked hot dog or sausage with minimal required cleanup.

Not only is it adorable and fun but it actually works great ! We've used it 4 times now and it's, fast and the hot dogs are delicious. We've made a single hot dog up to 6, we stacked them ! After the bark ( indicating steaming is complete ) I've stuck the buns in, for another minute, to make them soft and yummy !! The bark is sort of a strange barking sound, like a really hoarse, gruffy bark, still fun though! Warning: watch young children around this, it's cute and will attract attention, but the steam escapes through the top and can burn little hands ! Also, the hot plate discolored after a few uses but hasn't been an issue. There is an indicator light that turns on once its plugged in, after the bark it needs to be unplugged to turn it off.

My son and every friend that he dragged home with him lived off this Hotdog Hero. After 12(+/-) yrs ago, our hotdog hero STILL works and as a now adult, my son (and the rest of our adult family) also use it when craving hotdogs or for a game weekend. It's fast, but most importantly the hot dogs have that ball park/ concession stand taste which we love. Much better than anything in the microwave or boiling in water, as well as way less prep and mess to clean up afterwards. Not to mention it's still a conversation piece once our guest realize the barking dog means their hotdog is done!!!

My 56 year old husband wanted this for his birthday. As silly as I thought it was, I bought it.So incredibly simple - hot dogs steamed to perfection. And the barking dog when they're done, a nice cute touch. That said, you cannot turn that sound off - and the only way to stop it is to unplug.You can also squeeze some buns in there. We unplugged the unit once it barked, set the buns in, and they were done within about 30 seconds. Don't leave in too long or I suspect they will be mush!Clean up is easy!As cheesy as it looks - for the price, it's a great gift idea...

Don't get me wrong, it is cute and works great, but having my gallbladder out a few years ago has chnaged what I can eat and when I ate these steamed hotdogs it did not sit well. The HD were done, and tasted great but not for me. It will become a nice decoration. And yes it does "BARK" when the HD are done.

I bought this as a joke for my granddaughter but as it turns out it makes good hotdogs. It barks when the hotdogs are done. Don't plan to cook more than 4 at a time for best results and I put a full measure of water in it each time. My wife likes them black when she eats hotdogs but admits that these were better than boiled hotdogs. I would give it four stars but I don't want people to get the idea that this is a high quality cooker.
