Ascension (Ascension Series Book 1)

I have just enough time to write this review as I frantically find book 2....Ok you gotta read this book!!!! It's epic... You won't put it down... Lots of twists n turns.... Off to get book 2!

Absolutely fantastic book and i plan on reading the rest of the series thank u for the chance of reading the first in the series

the is a well writen book but too short. Buying a book of 150 pages costs more than one at 300 pages. kindle wants us to buy one at a time instead of sevral which creats a surtax on the credit card.

I enjoyed this book. Despite the cliffhanger ending I felt that the story was progressing well. It was a variation on some of the popular urban fantasy themes but it was well thought out.The plot was good. The writing was fine. The characters were sufficiently well developed for me to be able to relate.Having enjoyed this opener I checked out the remaining titles in the series and that's where I found a MAJOR problem. Books 3 & 4 in the series are 112 & 115 pages in length. I'm sure that they will be as well written and as developed as the first in the series but I'm just not prepared to buy novellas when I'm expecting a novel. I read a lot and I read quickly. Even if the two were combined into one novel they still wouldn't last me a wet afternoon with time on my hands.Sorry, but NO!

Since the Ascension most humans have evolved into shapeshifters, vampires or mages. Ciphers have developed defences against the supernatural races, whilst a small group of Nulls weathered the Ascension with no change at all. Many wonder if leading lady Fiona is a Cipher or Null, but what she keeps hidden is that the Ascension changed her into something different.Of course Fiona’s ability isn’t as secret as she thought despite help from powerful family members to minimise her gifts and not accidentally hurt anyone around her. When her father disappears, Fiona is roped into working for a Prime. Connor is an ancient vampire who is clearly drawn to Fiona, but as the plot develops it’s easy to understand why Fiona guards her heart.Lots of action and adventure and with a smidgeon of romance, this book is a great urban fantasy. The world building is well done and there is a good range of characters. I’m hooked and can’t wait to dive into book 2 “Reckoning”.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other’s in this series, as pointed out on another review, Fiona’s blackouts were a bit annoying, but overall, an enjoyable read.

Really good read though struggle with some of the information in the story line will look for next book in series to rad as want to know the outcome x

Not read this author before but a decent storyline, characters that grow and an easy writing style have compelled me to get the next book in the series.I'm about to jump into book two, "the reckoning", right now.
