Handle works perfect
Well it's definitely compact and the handle works perfect. I wouldn't recommend the pan as your main item of use because it's a bit small, so I got a griddle as well.

I purchased this cookset to replace a similar cookset that my children have misplaced. I settled on this item for two reasons. First is because it most resemble my previous cookset and second because it didn't contain all the plastic that other "camp cooksets" contain. After inspecting the item I found that the pan/lid does not sit inside the rim of the biggest pot but merely sits over it which was disappointing to me. The pan is also coated with a non stick material that was scratched off in areas. The bottom of the pan is not flat and smooth but is designed like a grill pan. After cooking in the pan I can verify that it truly is non stick. The two smaller nested pots do not have any lids. This is noted in the description and I am not basing my review on the lack of them, but not having lids makes them not worth much. I was hoping to use the lids from another cookset with them but they do not fit.The pots had small dents and were pitted when they arrived. With that being said, the cookset is durable enough to last a long time and light enough to carry in a pack.PROS:Durable cooksetLight weightNo plastic on the main cooksetCONS:Only one pan/lidLid lays over the largest pot instead of sitting inside the rimPan has grill type surface instead of flat and smoothNon stick coating on pan

strap sucks
First of all, you don't use aluminum over hot flames. over hot coals works best. If you can, use it on a grill rack. When I chose this set I knew there were draw backs like the pot handle, get a different style. That is an easy fix. The other draw back is the retention strap. Big issue. Headline sums it up. Just lazy design. The good points are that the set is light, pans are a very good size, the skillet is big enough to be functional. By way of a tip, if you cut out the bottom of an ice cream bucket that fits down in the skillet so you can use it as a cutting board with out hurting the surface. As I see it, knowing how to cook with aluminum is the biggest issue folks have with out door cooking.

Much Smaller Than Pictured
These are not sturdy outdoor pots and pans and they are so much smaller than indicated. I didn't return them, because my kids enjoy having adventures over the campfire. I recommend you do your research and find a higher quality, even if it costs a bit more.
