I just measured it, and it is only one small line under 11 inches. So, basically very close to 11 inches. The inside space is 9 inches.

On the 16-inch turntable what is the actual inches of space to place items?

It is just over 14 1/4 inches. This is a really nice turntable, I ordered two and put in my refrigerator. I hope to order another one to put in a kitchen cabinet that is hard to reach things in the back.

Could this be used in a refrigerator so stuff does not get lost in the back?

I think so. You will need to play with weight distribution. Heavier stuff in the middle, lighter items on the outside.

What is the height of the turntable

The base is one inch tall and the turntable has a 3/4 inch edge, so the overall height is 1 3/4 inch. The turntable is recessed down into the base so anything sitting on the turntable sits one inch above the surface the unit sits on. Hope this helps.
