Great place to start your ice cream adventure!
This book is the first of the "Italian Cooking School" series I've tried - I'm always on the lookout for new ice cream recipes. The book is divided into four sections: ice cream, sorbet, frozen desserts such as ice pops, granitas and semifreddos, and chilled desserts such as Italian trifle, bavarois etc.Recipes are categorized three ways: easy, average or advanced. Examples of easy include banana ice cream, all the sorbets, raspberry semifreddo, and cassata. Average recipes include praline ice cream, panna cotta and amaretti charlotte. Lastly there's advanced recipes, including cannoli and wine bavarois (though I should point out the easy and average recipes far outnumber the advanced ones). One thing I really liked was that every recipe is accompanied by a photograph. If you're an experienced ice cream maker you might be better off buying a more comprehensive book such as "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz, as this book probably won't have much you haven't tried before. If you're a beginner, though, it's an excellent place to start your ice cream adventure!
