Amazing alternative to the Microsoft Type Cover!
I was furious when the keyboard connector on my Surface Pro 7 failed (rendering my official Type Cover useless). So I was intrigued when I was offered a free Uogic keyboard in exchange for an honest review. I've been using it for two months now and have really enjoyed using it! I'd been using a different Bluetooth keyboard, which was OK but not particularly great. With the Uogic, I love using my Surface again![About me]I use my Surface Pro 7 for normal web stuff (eg: email, shopping), but primarily use it for drawing with Clip Studio Paint (keyboard+stylus). My kids also use it for playing Minecraft (keyboard+mouse).[Excellent build quality]* The keys feel allllmost as good as the official Microsoft ones. They offer the right amount of resistance and have a pleasant matte finish. (Such an improvement over my other random keyboard!)* The keyboard also has a good heft to it, and is sturdy. I don't get random key presses when the keyboard twists either.* The faux suede exterior feels great and has proven to be sturdy so far.* It has all the regular and meta-keys that I use. (My other keyboard lacked a Del key. WTH?)[Good battery life]* I'm not entirely sure how long the battery lasts, but I use the keyboard 1-2 hours a day and charge it once a week to be safe. I don't fiddle with turning it on/off either, so whatever it's doing in standby mode is working great.* It's USB-C, which is the same as my phone charger. And the port is unobtrusive.[Connectivity]* There's a fraction of a second when it re-pairs at startup (as with all Bluetooth keyboards), but it's pretty fast. I've never had it lose connection after that, and I usually forget it's a Bluetooth device.* I've tried using the keyboard while detached once. It worked, but it's such a weird experience. It's hard to imagine someone doing that on a regular basis. Unless the Surface is... connected to a TV or something?[Value and conclusion]* This keyboard is an excellent value. It's far cheaper than the official Type Cover, and costs about as much as other Bluetooth keyboards (but is a LOT higher quality than the other keyboard I tried). So if you're definitely looking for a Bluetooth keyboard, I highly recommend this one! If you're picking between this and a Type Cover, it could go either way...* If you have the extra cash, you MIGHT want the Type Cover to avoid the slight inconveniences of pairing and charging the keyboard. However, the SP7 has a KNOWN ISSUE where the Type Cover port sometimes fails. So if you're unlucky, you might be back anyways... Conversely, the Uogic has been a joy to use for these past 2 months!(Search for "Surface pro 7 type cover/ keyboard not working" on the Microsoft help forums.)Small nits:* The Bluetooth pairing is a little weird. Be sure to read the instructions! (power on 3 secs, Fn+C)* You can't use the trackpad while holding down keys (eg: shift, ctrl, alt). This isn't common, but could be a problem if you're gaming or using art software, for example. The keys can be used in conjunction with the touchscreen, stylus, or external mouse though, so I didn't notice the problem for a long time.* There's no way to tell how much battery is left, so you just have to guess.* vs. the Type Cover: the surface won't switch between tablet and laptop modes if you fold back the keyboard. I never really used this feature, so I don't miss it though!

A very nice keyboard cover for a Surface Pro
The Uogic keyboard cover operates very nicely on my Surface Pro 4, but it could use some improvements. In comparison to the MS keyboard cover the material is just as nice, the key feel is just a good, it snaps to the Surface Pro just as securely, and the responsiveness is just as good too. Some differences with the MS keyboard are the key backlight stays on longer, which is a plus, the FN key works like a shift key while the MS is a toggle, and Uogic’s touch pad doesn’t have any settings to adjust. Without a settings option, I know of no way to alter the touch pad cursor speed, sensitivity, scrolling direction, or automatically disable the touchpad when a mouse is attached (there is a special key to toggle the touchpad on/off instead). The touchpad is just as good as the MS keyboard when it comes to 1 and 2 finger gestures. However, the 3 and 4 fingers gestures need improvement. For example, I could not get a consistent response to the 3 or 4 finger taps; the MS keyboard works perfectly for me every time. Also, the palm rejection was not as good as the MS keyboard. Occasionally, the cursor jumped around the page while typing this in Word. I turned off the touchpad on the Uogic, but a finger or pen touch of the screen often popped up the on-screen touch keyboard until I disable the automatic touch keyboard pop-up setting in Windows. The bottom line: the Uogic has a good quality Surface keyboard cover sporting a very good keyboard and a fine but in need of some improvement touchpad. It may not have as good a touchpad as the MS keyboard cover, but the price is much better.

Stopped powering up within 2minths.
Worked great up to this month. Bought Aug 18th and now Oct 11 won’t power on. I only leave this on my desk so no reason why it should have died.

Worked great in the beginning and then stopped working
Update: Changed rating from a 1 to a 3. I registered my product in the manufacturer's website and have been communicating with customer service. They have been very quick to respond every email sent and in offering assistance. They ended up sending a replacement after troubleshooting with me. Great customer service, but still unsure of the quality and ended up buying an original Microsoft Surface keyboard and will keep this replacement as a back up now.Original comment: I bought this 4 months ago and during these months it worked great. I bought it for my Surface 7 and it fit the tablet like a glove. I was able to charge it a few times, until suddenly it stopped charging. I wasn't even using the keyboard or tablet much to justify it breaking down because of excessive use. I tried charging it 3 different ways, and still no way to get it to charge. I am within the one year warranty, so I'm hoping the manufacturer does something to rectify this. I do recommend going for establish brands when purchasing any form of electronics, if not it's just a waste of money.
