The description says it is abs free, is it also bpa free?

microwave safe for heating /reheating liquids?

It's made of a hard plastic, NOT glass and the handle is rubber for safe handling of boiling liquids. Nowhere on the box does it say it's microwave safe and because of what it's made of I personally would NOT put it in the microwave. It can with stand boiling liquids up to 400 degrees but these are liquids that have been transferred, not cooked in it! I would still highly recommend it though. Hope this helps ☺️

Are the holes for top big enough to strain/clean rice in?

They are actually too big to strain rice or clean rice. They are, however, small enough to strain out course cut vegetables from a soup or stew and the size and angle of the neck is very good at separating the fat from the broth while not loosing too much of the broth toward the end. You will need a finer wire mesh strainer to save the rice.
