All-new Echo Dot (4th Gen, Blue) combo with Wipro 9W LED smart color bulb

This smart speaker is one of the cheapest ones in the industry , the cheapest up-to-date smart speaker if you exclude the 3rd gen echo-dot. That being said this has tons of functionality just like its more expensive counterpart , the Echo but with significantly cut down sound quality. Ive divided the review into sections :Build and Aesthetics : This speaker is built surprisingly well with a good amount of weight to it. It feels dense and reassuring. The base is completely made out of rubber which provides good grip on almost all kinds of surfaces. Aesthetics is subjective but this basically being a sphere blends into any space making it seldom noticeable making it perfect for a minimalistic setup. The Ring Light is surprisingly well done and a good upgrade from the last gen. LED hotspots are not as obvious as on the gen 3 echo dot which makes it look ever so slightly better. The ring light adjusts brightness according to ambient lighting conditions. It gets very bright in harsh lighting conditions while also being dim enough in a dark room and not being eye-piercing.Alexa Integration : Alexa integration has been done excellently well on this . No corners have been cut inspite of this being the smaller version of the Echo. The alexa app has been done decently well too. Lots os music streaming platforms to choose from. Works with almost every alexa enabled smart plug without any hiccups.Voice Recognition and Interpretation : This is mixed bag . The reason why i say that is because of how the mic placement has been done on this speaker, four microphones are placed near the buttons which themselves are located a little behind the precise top of the speaker. This has been done considering the driver is forward firing but the problem arrives when you set the volume past 60%. It will most definitely struggle to pick-up commands depending on whats playing at the moment. What has been done well though is the response time, this speaker is immediate to respond to commands considering you have a fast and stable internet connection. Speaking of connectivity, here's a quirk i found to be absolutely atrocious : The Wi-Fi reception on this speaker is absolutely terrible. Teardown videos reveal a very small and under-engineered wifi antennas. Having your router in the same room but a couple feet apart will also result in signal loss . My wifi router lies about 5 feet away from the speaker and yet the alexa app reports signal strength as 2 bars.Coming to one of the most important parts , THE SOUND : This speaker has one of the weirdest sound characteristics i've ever experienced. It comes with a puny 1.6" full-range driver which is the exact same driver from the last gen echo dot. Just the build of the sound chamber has been modified owing to the slightly improved sound quality from last gen. This has a very pyramid-ish volume characteristic. It sounds decent at 50% volume with the lows being below average, good mids and average highs. Sound quality deteriorates significantly when volume is set past 70%. Amazon really couldve done with an improved and more powerful driver but thats reserved for the Dolby powered Echo. You can connect a bluetooth speaker for improved sound but that brings up another host of issues mainly being an annoying delay between commands and alexa's response.

So far Alexa is behaving very well. Really happy.

I liked the build quality and features. However the speaker quality could have been better as the bass of the speaker doesn't seem to be up to the mark. Voice control - need to shout "Alexa" when the volume is above 5. I am comparing with Google as that doesn't require shouting to control the speaker even if is on vol 10. From features and looks point of view it's awesome you will definitely like it. it looks premium.Waiting for Alexa to come without wire.or with rechargeable speaker which is more easy to move the speaker within home.

needs separate wifi other than hotspot .difficult set up initially .Product is good , I returned it because of wifi issues . it supports 2.4 G wifi only
