Fantastic Expansion and Aeration: Vermiculite Works Wonders in my Garden!
I recently tried the FarmTek Horticultural Coarse Vermiculite in both my garden soil and hydroponics, and I was extremely satisfied with the results. The coarse grade of the vermiculite provided excellent aeration and moisture retention in the soil, promoting healthy root growth and overall plant vitality. In my hydroponic system, vermiculite proved to be an exceptional medium for supporting plant growth, as it facilitated nutrient absorption and provided stability for the plants.I found the 4 cubic feet size to be quite generous. It was sufficient to treat a considerable area of my garden and set up multiple hydroponic growing systems. The vermiculite's horticultural grade ensured that it was free from harmful substances and ideal for use in organic gardening.Overall, I was impressed with the performance of the FarmTek Horticultural Coarse Vermiculite in both traditional garden soil and hydroponic setups. Its ability to improve soil structure, retain moisture, and support plant growth makes it a versatile and valuable addition to any gardening or hydroponic growing project.

nice big bag
I have searched in stores for large bags of vermiculite but they only carry small bags. I made big raised beds last spring and used Mel's Mix (see Square Foot Gardening) to fill them (1/3 compost, 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite). My plants were HUGE and very productive. This vermiculite works great, is affordable and arrived quickly. I will order more this spring when I add beds.

Works well more coarse than expected
This vermiculite works well, but it is coarser than I expected. It helps the soil to drain well, and there is a lot in the bag. It is more cost-effective than some of the other options on Amazon, especially if you need more than a few handfuls. My plants did very well this season and yielded many vegetables. The vermiculite worked well at keeping the soil moist in non-woven fabric bags.

Serious Vermiculite
If you need a huge amount of high quality vermiculite, this is the one. I got this to mass root some fruit tree and grape vine cuttings with, as well as to use in my glass studio for cooling glass beads. It has served me well in both functions, there isn't a speck of dirt in it, and the vermiculite is high quality. The bag is huge and the price is unbeatable for that quantity.

I love this vermiculite, but this vendor does not ship well.
I grow most of our veggies and herbs indoors in my large basement, and have used this course vermiculite for well over a year. Since I grow a lot of plants, I use quite a bit of this vermiculite to my potting soil since it helps to retain moisture in the soil and promotes healthy strong root in my plants. I also use other additive in the soil but this is one of them. The particles in this vermiculite is larger than the medium size and lasts longer in the soil. There are some smaller particles and dust, but this is true of any vermiculite you can buy. If you grow a lot of plants, indoors or outdoors, this large bag is more cost effective than the smaller bags available.Although I love the product, this vendor seems to have a problem with shipping. The first order, I got perlite instead of vermiculite, so I returned the product. The second order, the shipping box had been damaged and what was left of the vermiculite was put into another bag. About 1/4 of the vermiculite had been lost in the process, so I also returned this order and ordered it again. The third order, the box had again been retaped by the shipper and, fortunately the bag of vermiculite had not been damaged. It should not have required 3 orders to get the correct and undamaged product. The previous vendor I got this product from charges $4 more, but, at least, I got the correct, undamaged product every time I ordered it.I gave this vermiculite a 5-star review since I like this vermiculite. I would not suggest getting it from this seller.I hope this review was helpful for you.

It's a big bag!
So it arrived with a hole in the bag that was taped over, about the size of a quarter. Could've been taped better because the tape mostly came off, but only lost maybe a handful of vermiculite, so no big deal. A bigger hole or shipped hole side down could be a mess. Just something to be aware of.The bag is certainly close to if not exactly 4 cu ft. It measures approx 15x15x30 inches. The pieces that fell out were about 1/4 inch. I didn't open it up yet because I don't need until later, but when I do maybe I'll update this review to comment on the piece size.Either way definitely beats the big box store 8qt bags (if they even have it stocked).

Perfect for square foot gardening
Great vermiculite which is perfect for square foot gardening. I mixed this with peat moss and compost to start a raised garden bed. The mix retains moisture well and is soft and aerated so my plant roots will have hydration and support without being crushed. Looking forward to seeing the quality of my garden this spring.
