Great coffee "tasting" barley tea
This is my first time into the coffee substitute arena. Maybe if I had tried the other ones that are reportedly terrible I may give this a higher rating. I quit caffeine when I was trying to get pregnant and I've been 99% caffeine free (other than chocolate) for 14 years. Decaf coffee still gives me PVCs so I had to quit even that. I missed the smell and taste of coffee as warm cup in my hand in the mornings. Habits die hard. I love barley tea so I thought this would be a fine substitute. It tastes good but it does not really taste like really good coffee. This tastes like hotel coffee or coffee from the hospital or coffee from your really cheap aunt's house. I'm not a coffee snob. I do like rich dark coffee when I drink it straight. If you drink this straight it seems very obvious that it's very much a flavored barley tea - the after taste is predominantly barley. If you are a barley tea drinker like me you don't mind that. But if you are not, it will be not so pleasant. The BODY of the beverage is not quite coffee like. I tried it with cream and sugar it was much better - more like a flavored coffee drink you might get at Dunkin Donuts or such place. I will finish my bag happily but I won't be buying more simply because it was not quite what I was after. It's certainly worth a try. I wish they sold sample packs - just enough for one pot of coffee.

Great Taste! Gluten Sensitive Girl Back for More Ayurvedic Roast!
Before Ayurvedic Roast, I had been drinking another tea-like beverage that I enjoyed the chocolate-minty aroma of, but not the rough and acidic taste or after-taste.I read the reviews on Ayurvedic Roast and decided to give it a try.I like Ayurvedic Roast as a hot drink, some like it iced! It isn't coffee, but I don't think they are trying to be.This is richer, more robust than a cup of herbal tea. It is smooth, bold when brewed, non-acidic, and mixes well with Cinnamon and Almond Milk. I am gluten sensitive and haven't had any problems with the grains in this drink. For a Perfect cup, a French press is the way to go. (Bodum $20 model available on Amazon.) I tinkered with the amount of Ayurvedic Roast to add for brewing each cup of steamy hot stuff. A tablespoon per 8 ounces makes a bolder, richer flavor.I rarely give anything 5 stars but this time I did! Because of the clean, smooth, rich flavor of Ayurvedic Roast I am a repeat, giant-bag customer drinking cup after cup. This is overall a better taste experience than all of the other tea-coffee crossovers I have tried. In case you are thinking that this sounds like a plant or a review from someone paid to write, or a friend or employee never fear. I am not: an employee, friend, acquaintance, etc of anyone at AR. I did NOT unfortunately get a free sample to review and did NOT get any discounts for writing this review.I am a ex-coffee drinker, warm drink lover sharing my opinion of something that I find interesting and tasty! try it and enjoy!

Good Beverage, little pricey
This beverage has a good flavor which I actually like better than regular coffee. I have been going organic as much as I can and cut back on caffeine which I really don't need. Caffeine can't take place of needed rest and sleep and too much caffeine doesn't help the brain and the body, so this beverage worked good for me. What I don't like is the price. Cost more than regular coffee and it goes fast if you drink it every day. I cut back to 3-4 days a week and drink regular organic caffeine-free coffee the other days. Also, besides our needed rest and healthy diet, a good organic whey, banana, blueberry, almond & coconut milk, and juice/veggie blend shake gives a good perk too. You can also make a shake out of this beverage. Microwave 2 tbsp of Ayurvedic in 1/2 cup water almost to boil then set few min and strain out grounds. Set in freezer about 15 min.to cool. Pour in blender with some organic maple syrup or organic cane sugar to sweeten it, 1 tsp organic vanilla, 1 cup organic almond & coconut milk, 1 tbsp organic cocoa powder (optional) and ice. Can also top with a dab of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, sprinkle of ground dark chocolate or dust of cocoa.

Good for you, but does not smell or taste like any coffee
I really wanted to like this stuff because I need to cut down on coffee consumption. I was very excited to receive this "coffee." The minute I opened the bag I noticed it smelled nothing like coffee at all. It was interesting to recall that one of the reviewers stated in a blindfolded taste test you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and real coffee. Hmmmmm. Anyway, I made it exactly like I make my regular coffee, and it tastes nothing like any coffee I have ever tasted anywhere (and I've had my share of desperation java in the past). I was very disappointed in the taste. The flavor is not really "bad," just totally different from that rich coffee aroma and taste. It looks like coffee, though. What I ended up doing is mixing it with regular coffee. This helped a lot, and it reduced my intake of cafffeine and acid. It tasted okay mixed with regular coffee, and that's what I will probably do in the future. Will I buy it again? Probably. If I feel okay and my symptoms improve I will try to stick with it. Like I said, it's not bad, just different. It is possible I will get used to the taste.I did a lot of research on the ingredients in this product. They can be good for your heart and help you feel calm. This could be a good thing. I just wanted to take the time and post about the taste and aroma.
