GREAT MOVIE AND SUPER FUN!!
On a Ghostbusters movies binge and this movie was super cute! I love the actresses and the ghost theme! These are just fun movies for "kids" of all ages. I enjoy the new characters intermingled with the legendary actors from the originals!! :)

Empowering
The movie is not a full screen movie; it is Widescreen. I view this movie as a comically lighthearted interpretation of the afterlife; it shows how people have free will to accept responsibility for their actions in life and the possibility of Devine judgement in the afterlife.

Not nearly as bad as internet trolls would have you believe.
Like most kids born in the early 80s, Ghostbusters was a huge factor in my life. Die hard fan and still buy merch in my 30s. I read some Ghostbusters comics (TMNT/Ghostbusters, etc..) here and there. I have bought these movies countless times on VHS, DVD and now Blu-ray. I pre-ordered the Real Ghostbusters DVD in the Firehouse back when it was first available. So make no mistake, I'm a Ghostbusters fan. I was one of the groaners as info on this started being leaked. I didn't have a problem with them being women, but the reboot in general. I hate reboots. Two minutes of tying in the old with the new and I would have been fine, but they didn't take that route -- so I was not looking forward to this. However I kept my opinions to myself. Now that my credentials are out of the way, we can move forward. My daughter (7) was dying to see this movie. Naturally she was attracted to it because they're girls. I didn't want to pay to see it in the theater as I just planned on buying it when it came out. We finally watched the first two because I wanted her to see the originals and why I loved them and continue to love them so much. As expected, she also loved them. So, Wednesday we pop the movie in and start watching. I see her kind of squirming a bit at the intro and by the time we're about 10 minutes in as the ladies are about to encounter the first ghost she's acting a bit odd. It was admittedly creepy for a 7 year old and certainly more "advanced" than the originals. Not wanting to deal with a "I can't sleep/I had a nightmare" marathon on a weeknight, we decide to turn it off. Not typically her M.O. but we were going into uncharted territory. However, in the first 10 minutes alone it had grabbed my attention, given me a few chuckles and honestly was a bit disappointed we had to bail.Friday my wife and I decide to finish it while she's in school. We had some good laughs and there were a good amount throwback references. There were definitely parts where it was a little slower and sort of felt like it was just dragging along -- but we also watched the Extended cut over the theatrical, so it very well could have been a result of the extended cut. We both feel that Kate McKinnon stole the show. We found her adorable. But all four of them got a laugh out of us at some point or another.Look, it is the best movie ever? Definitely not.Is it worthy of the hate it received? Definitely not.Is there an underlying feminist agenda? Definitely not. However, Chris Hemsworth was a bit over the top on the stupidity level. Not sure what this was pandering to, or if it was just meant to get cheap laughs (which in some cases it did).Do I feel like any less of a Ghostbusters fan for liking the movie? Hell no.It was a fun flick, and as a Ghostbusters fan gave me something new. My daughter will watch it shortly (oddly enough the part she was getting a little bit weirded out by was just the build up of one of the scenes she watched in trailers countlessly on YouTube while the movie was being advertised.) I am sure she will love it and as a result probably have it playing a few times in the near future as she loves to watch movies back-to-back-to-back-to-back, studying them.If you're a Ghostbusters fan just watch it with an open mind. It may surprise you as it did me.EDIT: Our daughter watched it. As expected she loved it!

Don’t waste your time with this one!
5 stars as in the disc works well. But the movie is 1/5 stars. This movie was so disappointing. Afterlife was way better. You shouldn’t waste your time with this one, only get it if you’re a completist & want to get the whole franchise on dvd.

The extended edition is actually better!
My husband and I saw the movie over the summer, and when my younger brother and sister (middle school age) were over we bought rented the digital edition to watch with them since that was all that was available. Usually I don't like deleted scenes or extended cuts since I feel like they were taken out for a reason. But Ghostbusters felt improved by the scenes that were taken out. The kids absolutely loved it, more than the original film that they'd seen already. I happen to agree, this is such a fun popcorn movie with a stunning cast, great jokes, and even a few scares. I hope they make a second one of these! So what's different in the extended cut? Scenes not only ran a bit longer, but they gave Kristen Wiig's character a lot more to do--dealing with a sort of boyfriend from her old job, another guy who tries to film her on his phone while saying he went to her home town--that fit in very nicely and fleshed out the story. There were a lot more jokes and dancing added in that were great, too. The only downside is that they use some alternate lines for throwaway jokes, like the thing about the Aldridge mansion's owner building a fence to keep out the Irish and the salty parabola part that I thought were funnier in the theatrical cut. There's also more cursing so heads up if you're showing it to smaller kids. But that was so minor, and what they added back in was overall great.
