Q: what is the difference between ceramic and titanium rollers?

Ceramic rollers contain a wax core as it's heating element. The wax core takes longer to heat and do not get very hot. One must leave the rollers in one's hair for a longer period of time to achieve a curl. Additionally, the wax causes the rollers to be heavier. Titanium is allegedly an indestructible metal. Titanium is lighter and due to its metal core, heats rapidly and achieves a higher heat which is mandatory for producing curls. The rollers can be removed after a few minutes depending on the type of curl one wants. The Babyliss has both pins and clips. The clips are useless. Use the pins. Conair acquired Babyliss in the late 1990s and manufactures Babyliss. The two products are identical in every way but priced differently. I am able to use my Conair rollers on the Babyliss and interchange roller size. These rollers of different sizes are from my Conair set purchased 12 years ago. They are not ceramic rollers but are identical to the titanium Babyliss rollers.

Mine, which look the same, are one and a half inches. Good for soft curls.

If your hair is chin length or right at your collarbone I suggest the one and a half size anything larger I mean the one and three-quarter size will work but anything larger is just going to flop around even secured with clips or pins you won’t get a lot of body with a 1.5

Q: How long do the rollers take to heat up?

It's says in the instructions 3-5 but that's bunk. For my long, thick hair, they need closer to 15-20 minutes. The blue curlers aren't working right and still aren't hot enough after 30 minutes I'm sending these back. They're just really hot plastic and aren't working with my long thick hair. I miss my metal core rollers and will probably just buy a vintage set.
