It actually works.
This pedal does what it claims to do. The doubling thickens up the guitar really well. Some have complained of a volume drop when engaged, and I noticed that too. This happens if the "Effect" and "Dry" knobs are NOT maxed out. My amps are a Twin R. and a DeLuxe R. I run a Revv G3 distortion pedal in front of this pedal. I keep "Tightness" at 12 o'clock and dime the other 2 knobs and the sound is very, very thick and heavy. It simulates additional guitar tracks really well. I have heard that it works best with 2 amps. If you run 1 amp, the smaller mono unit is probably a better option. I'm keeping this one.

This thing is awesome. GearNuts company was great to work with.
This is an indispensable tool for me now. Set "Effect" to max and "Dry" to zero. Highly recommend using it in stereo. Has made recording guitar doubles painless and even fun. Looking forward to using this live, with a rig set on either side of the stage (for stereo imaging separation).GearNuts took care of me. There was a shipping issue with the order. They did the right thing and sent me a second unit. Customer service was great. I highly recommend them as a company.

Mimiq
Legit TC Electronic Mimiq pedal. It does what it's supposed to do.

but there's no "shimmer" like a chorus and that's not really what it is
"Live" simulated double tracking is tricky, and this isn't quite there -- but it's highly usable. I play in a metal band, and I'm the only guitar player, so I run a stereo rig and put the cabinets at the far sides of the stage whenever possible to get the biggest soundstage I can, and some of that "Glen and KK" vibe. Still, a stereo rig by itself falls far short of doubling, and that's where the Mimiq comes in: it adds very small variations in pitch and timing to simulate the effect of a doubled track, or of two guitarists in unison. It's not completely dissimilar to a chorus with a verrrrry slow rate, but there's no "shimmer" like a chorus and that's not really what it is: it gives (as far as I can tell) a very small, fixed amount of detuning on one side, and a very small amount of delay. Maybe there's some subtle EQ to counteract the perceived volume difference between sides that you get when you have a tiny, asymmetric delay -- just guessing here. However it does it, it provides a fair illusion of two guitarists playing in unison. For some things I use it for -- big stereo riffing, majestic sympho-metal power chords, crystal-clear cleans -- it's pretty good. For other things, like high-gain leads, the effect comes across more ike a tinny reverb (a super-short delay). I run it in the effects loop of my Fractal AX8, and only use it in the patches where it suits. Pretty happy with the result, and I get questions about the big soundstage at gigs (all from guitarists). If you use it, get a power supply: a brand-new 9V battery will last about 45 minutes if you're lucky.

Great for vocals too
Although not a dedicated vocal doubler, used as an effects send with stereo input returns, it sounds great

It made live metal tones sound terrible. Cleans didn't really have a big difference
Was not worth the money. It made live metal tones sound terrible. Cleans didn't really have a big difference. Would not spend more than5 bucks for the paper weight.

My guitar tone has always been pretty great but am always open to improvement
My guitar tone has always been pretty great but am always open to improvement. I put this in my board and used it intermittently on our last gig. The sound man asked,” what did you do to your guitar?!..it’s fat and cuts the mix like I’ve never heard before!” I am really into a wide stereo sound and this piece is incredible. If you use it with one amp or one direct line you may be disappointed. It is designed to be used in a stereo rig.

Too subtle for me
Idk, TC makes some great stuff, but this pedal underwhelms. Not sure how or why it is even stereo because all the “other guitar parts” all mix to both channels. Wish there were ways to assign voices to channels, like dry centered and “overdubs” to left and right. Maybe it’s too subtle or I’m not sensitive enough to hear this thing.
