Calculus Remover

I got this calculus remover because I started using the Emmi-dent between dental visits. I have had a lot of trouble with tartar build up on one tooth in particular, (it's slightly crooked) so I bought this to remove the build up. I really don't have to use it anymore. The toothbrush itself does a really good job of keeping the tartar from building up. If you are starting with a clean slate, right after a dental cleaning, then I guess you don't need this. But if you are starting in between visits, this is a great product. Glad I bought mine, even if it doesn't get used much now.

According to both the brochure provided by ORATEC and the manual of Emmi-dent toothbrush, this thing is supposed to be used independently of the brush handle. There is no ultrasonic chip in it and no metal contact either. The way it works is just to repeatedly scrape the surface of the tartar, hoping the tartar is trimmed bit by bit, but the problem is, this tip is far less hard than normal tartar. With just a few strokes, the tip already lost one fourth of its shape and became blunt... While the professional dental pick I ordered is still on the way, I just switched back to my Victorinox knife and used one of the tools that has a fine tip and it got the job done. Don't waste your money on this POS and get a set of real dental tartar scrapers.

this product is so effective at eliminating plaque, calculus and bacteria it will virtually eliminate eliminate trips to the dentists office. i recommend it for every one. i had heavy calculuc build up and over a period of a few weeks of daily use, it is all gone and teeth are white and healthy. Wish i had had this years ago and saved all the expense and pain of dental cleaning.

I bought this item thinking that it was a standalone calculus remover. The listing said nothing about the fact that it is merely an attachment to a very expensive Emmi-dent toothbrush. Since the calculus remover is also named Emmi-dent it appeared this was the Emmi-dent referred to in the description. According to the packing slip returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Do not be taken in by this misrepresentation.

wow! I was surprised how much this really makes a difference in cleaning & removing stains on teeth. My new can't live without product.

False & deceptive product info. The ad and the package indicate that this is an electronic attachment to the Emmi-Dent. In fact, it's just a plastic stick with a tip of some sort. The Emmi-dent is just a holder. Don't waste your money if you're expecting an electronic tool like the toothbrush. I love the toothbrush.

I took a chance buying this entire system because of the upfront cost, but did my research and read quite a few reviews and decided if it works, one cavity would cost more than what I was spending...and I'm glad I dropped the cash on it. This is the best sytem for oral hygiene I have ever used and I've tried quite a few. The calculus remover is a great extension of that system and feels almost rubbery and is in no way unpleasant and gets the job done. I could go on about it, but I think the best I can do for you is to tell you to read the online reviews and articles and let you know that it lives up to what is said about it, and just tell you to give it a try for yourself. You won't be disappointed! My teeth have never felt smoother and cleaner, and I love the system and will be using it from now on...and anyone getting it I think would feel the same way about it!

It does not work as advertised. I have used it following the indications but it does not REMOVE any calculus. I still have to use a tartodrom (a metal tool used by dentists to remove plaque)
