Super cool gadget
One of the coolest gadgets I ever introduced into my art room. Slices through styrofoam like buttah! Gives off some noxious fumes but that’s the price you pay for melting styrofoam. None of my students know what to call it so they usually use hand motions to describe it or come up with weird names for it. Be super careful because it is hot hot hot! I always demo it first and say a prayer a kid doesn’t go rogue and brand themselves or me. So far so good!

Cool tool to have
This hot cutter is super cool. Great to have around for any foam cutting projects/ needs. Price is cheap enough we just bought it to keep on hand not realizing how awesome of a tool it could be for when you least expect it.Would definitely buy again. Fun to work and great results for cutting foam items. Cures quickly and cleanly. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It does work....but maybe need lots of practice?
I was really excited when I received my order, as I had a project already halfway complete, and I was just waiting on this to "finish" cutting the foam and complete the project. I'm not sure if it was me, or it was this cutter, but it was not anywhere close to neat/smooth/clean cuts. Every "cut" I made the foam kind of gooped up on the wire, and left a very jagged and uneven cut no matter how steady I was. I tried going a little quicker, and it seemed to not cut as fast as I was going, thus leaving uneven jagged cuts. I tried going a little slower, and the foam seemed to melt and get really goopy all over the wire; the cuts were neater/straighter/cleaner (still left just a little melted/goopy foam behind though), but I had to keep stopping every couple of inches to wipe down the wire and/or try to scrape the goop off. Again, this is my first time working with this device, ever, so it may not be the device's "fault"; it could absolutely be operator error! Regardless, it was not nearly as easy, clean, and neat as I saw in many videos, but hopefully with more practice, it will get better. Overall, whether it was my fault or the device's fault, it still cut the foam and got the job done (not the prettiest, but it worked).

Best thing for cutting styrofoam.
I use styrofoam as the base for my Christmas Village so I had lots to cut. In the past I used a box cutter or an electric carving knife but it left a big mess and was difficult and time consuming to cut precisely. With this I can cut the foam quickly and easily. The cutter gets very hot so you must be careful but it cools down quickly when you turn it off. I was able to make precise and creative cuts for my village. The different heads work well for the different ways I needed to make cuts.If you will be working with styrofoam or other types of not too dense foam this is great.

This is a decent set for the money, but trying to rush will break it.
This is a great kit for the money. That said, I’ll need to determine the absolute slowest possible speed at which up can move your hand and then go about half as fast while using the long, straight wand. Otherwise it’ll break the cheap plastic mount with little usage and one that happens, the wand will be forever loose. This causes crooked cuts on deep channel routes as the wave will look straight, but it’s trailing substantially inside the foam. Grrr.Like I said, for the money it’s a great kit and has everything you need for smaller projects. Just be sure to buy a more substantial, double blade cutter if you are working with larger blocks of stiff foam.My bad, not theirs, but there’s no warning that I could find so by the time I figured out that it was loose, it was too late.Other than that, it definitely gets 4 and maybe 4.5 stars. (I rarely award 5 stars, unless something is excellent, so this is a great tool for the price).

Great product
This foam cutter is awesome! The thin wire works best, I do wish there was a bigger wand to use with the wire, but it definitely beats trying to cut foam with a knife!

Lasted under an hour
I was skeptical because I had read enough reviews that said this thing is flimsy. I doubted some of the reviews that said it fell apart quickly. I thought to myself “you have to take your time, you can’t just drag the thing thru the foam like the obviously speeded up description video shows”. So I received mine and was up and running in 10 seconds. I started to use the product, letting the hotend cut the foam without forcing it thru the foam. Unfortunately the two main heads lasted less than an hour even at ten minute (or less) increments. And it becomes useless after that. I tried switching back and forth between the two heads and giving it a rest every so often. But the more I used the product the longer it took to heat up and the faster it started melting at the hotend base. Cannot recommend this.Pros:-Easy to switch out hotend heads-Heats up between 10-20 seconds….at first-The “U” attachment is made of thicker metal-Cuts thru foam easy…..at firstCons:-The hotend base plugs are made of cheap plastic and melt, making the hotend base become gooey and bend after a few minutes of use-After repeated usage, even with time rest between different hotends they become useless-The more you use the product the less time you are able to cut with it.-With repeated usage the hotends take longer and longer to heat and can only be used for a few minutes at a time-Product overall lasts less that an hour before it quit
