Does this work in all-day direct sun? I want to get one for the shade, and one for the sun.

You should never, ever put a thermometer in direct sunlight. You are then trying to measure the temperature of the sun, and you could ruin the thermometer. Outdoor temperature always refers to the temperature of the air, which can only be measured in in the shade.

Can the temperture be seen at an angle or do you have to be directly in front of the thermometer to see what the reading is?

You might be able to see it from a slight angle, but it's best to be directly in front of it. Unfortunately, the thermometer they sent me is consistently under-reporting the temp by 12 to 13 degrees. I tried everything I could think of to remedy the situation, but to no avail. I will be putting mine in the trash.

how can tempeerature be adjusted when it is off quite a bit from actual weather?

It cant. One of mine was over 10 degrees off, I thought I could just slide the glass thermometer tube up or down to correspond with the correct number, but it is glued in place. I think trying to move it would just end up breaking it.
