The Night Before Christmas Recordable Edition: A Recordable Storybook

I ordered these in October when they said they were selling fast. They were going to be the most special Christmas present for my eight month old granddaughter and four month old grandson. They both only have one grandfather and he was going to read this to them just as his father has done for our children throughout the years. As you can imagine I was really excited about this gift. Today, as my husband started to read these books for our grandchildren so I could wrap them, the batteries exploded in the books. The batteries were new and we even put in additional batteries. So now I am left without the special present and no way to get a refund since the window has closed. Buyer beware! I am so upset right now. Too bad I can't leave a negative 1 review.The fact that their were corroded batteries in these books, tells me someone already sent them back.

Couldn't even try to record this. The switch to allow it to record is hidden in the battery compartment. But the battery compartment won't open because the screw won't unscrew; it just spins in its socket. A waste of forty dollars and two hours of my time trying every trick in the book to extract the screw... not to mention not being able to give my granddaughter the gift she's been asking for. And I can't return it for a refund because I bought it last year when I found out that she really wanted me to record the story for her. It's damned infuriating.

Book arrived promptly and looked as described. Problem arose when I opened the battery compartment and found that the 3 AAA batteries were heavily corroded. After removing them I cleaned the likewise-corroded contacts using Q -tips, lemon juice and a nylon bristle brush. Although the contacts as well as the battery compartment looked very clean with new batteries, it would not record as required. Upon receiving notice of this problem the seller has been very cooperative in resolving the issue, and I am returning the item for a full refund.

My husband and I bought 2 of these recordable books to have a book with our voices reading the night before Christmas to our grandchildren. I am not well and I always wished I could hear my grandmother's voice but there were no recordings when i was a child. Our grandchildren will be able to listen as we read and I hope it will bring a smile each Christmas and memories of us once we are gone. The book is not small but a great size and the colored pages were bright and the pictures lovely.

4.5 starsThis recordable story is such a superb ideas. I purchased this from Amazon go send to my grandson in Oregon when he was 2. He loved it and listened to it many many times. He was able to tell his parents who was speaking, Grammy!You must read the instructions thoroughly before using. I made several mistakes along the way, but you are able to go back and correct errors by re-reading the entire page. It takes some practice, and you may need to speak faster than normal. But in the end, you wind up with a story read by a loved one. Memories and keepsakes galore!Recommended. prisrob 07-09-15

I truly love these books, especially at the cheapy price. I bought this for my son since he was actually born the night before Christmas and I'm in awe. I would give it 5 stars, but the sensor gets really screwy in low light and won't activate until you're in a well lit area. Kind of sucky since in my daydreams we're hovered near a fireplace, but now I'll have to sit under a bright lamp. Maybe I'll use a rocking chair?Well, the sensors get screwy in low-light, so if you're trying to record and it says "please turn to the page you wish to record" over and over, you need it to be brighter. If that happens, then it probably won't read the pages until you get a higher light setting too.Anyway, great idea, especially for 5 bucks. I can't wait to wrap up for my boys

I purchased this for my youngest grandson for Christmas. After I purchased new batteries for it, I then began the recording. After recording each page, it let me hear what I recorded so I could edit it if need be, When I was done with the book and played it back page by page, it skipped 2 pages, so I re-recorded the entire thing again and it still skipped the same 2 pages. I was very disappointed and it was too late to return. At least he will have something to joke about, I guess.

My husband recorded two of these books, one for each of our young grand-children. They loved hearing their Papa's voice, as there are many miles between us. My husband had to record the first page several times to fit it in...but after that he had no problems. I think he had the bigger of the smiles when giving the books to our grand-children. Even so our grand-daughter sat more than once in her Papa's lap to listen with him to the book that Papa had recorded for her.

I'm very unhappy as the book arrived damaged and contained old, corroding batteries. We tried putting new batteries in but it still didn't work. I would like a replacement book urgently as this was going to be a Christmas present for my nephew.

It was a lovely book for us to record the story so that our grandaughter in Southern Ireland can hear our voices. My daughter is going to give the book to her on Christmas eve so she will hear us telling the story on that special night.Could Hallmark books produce more books suitable for 6 year olds - most of the recordable books are for younger little people.

Was most disappointed with this purchase, beautiful story with equally illustration, unfortunately after recording my story without any problems, distorted voice took over, full refund was given without any problems.
