There aren't tension controls but you can set for speed.

No assembly / may have to put pedals. Then plugin and go.

Is there a manual operation?

Yes. You can turn the pedals with your feet or hands manually without the motorization. I'm not sure if the resistance stays the same, but the counter does count the revolutions even with manual use.
