Pre-ordered this book in anticipation of the holidays, and it arrived today. I was looking for a quick and easy reference to either modify some of our family's go-to recipes, or maybe add a few more into the rotation. In short - I'm a mom to three elementary aged kids (two of whom love to pore over cookbooks and try cooking themselves), and have a close family member with diabetes, along with a friend who was recently diagnosed. When they are over for meals, it would be good for me to know ways in which to make my cooking more "diabeties-friendly". In looking over recipes the past couple hours, it looks like this book more than delivers. It has recipes my kids are asking to try cooking and (diabetes or not), offers super tasty suggestions. In fact, the recipe for the Oven-Baked "Fried" Chicken looks to already be a winner, and looking at how the author adjusted the breading to make it less-carb intense and more protein-packed (hint: Parmesan cheese, anyone?!? YUM!), I'm now planning to try this recipe with my kids this weekend.Another bonus at first glance - this cookbook is heavy on the how-tos and ideas, and light on the fluff. That is to say, it isn't one of those cookbooks with a gazillion shiny pictures that I will pore over and then shelve only to dust now and then. That's not to say it doesn't have great food photos (it does!), but I can tell it's going to get a workout in our kitchen. My 11 year old already wants to try making the Fermented Dill Pickles (kitchen science at its best, plus who can resist the 10-min prep time listed plus the excitement of countertop pickle-watching), while my 9 year old is all over the Peanut Butter Bites (whipped up with some other sweet ingredients and rolled in cocoa powder - a perfect after-school snack that the author even notes we can even keep in the freezer for last-minute cravings).I'll update this review once we try some recipes, but as for a first impression from two kids and a mom, we're giving it six thumbs up as our new family cookbook to experiment from. Pssst: it also happens to be chock full of healthy stuff that's diabetic-friendly - don't tell my kids!

Eat What you Love Diabetic Cookbook
My husband has to cut carbs way back, and be careful in his sugar intake. This book is our new favorite, it has really great recipes. We were on a national weight loss program but many of the suggested food have too much sugar or carbs for his new diet. He wasn't losing any weight either. We discovered "zoodles" in this book, those are zuchinni noodles. They have become our favorite veggie. This book is easy to follow, the color photos are perfect, and it's not overloaded with blahblahblah from the author. I would definately recommend this book for anyone wanting to follow their doctors guidelines for cutting carbs. My husband has lost 16 lbs in the last 2 months following this eating guideline.

Highly recommend this book for anyone looking for balanced, nourishing and tasty meals
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for balanced, nourishing and tasty meals that will help with blood sugar management. As a dietitian, I believe food must be both tasty and nourishing and that everyone deserves to ENJOY a variety of foods. When I meet with people who have been diagnosed with diabetes, they usually think they have to give up carbohydrates, all forms of desserts and any foods they enjoy. I'm thrilled to have such a great cookbook to supplement my nutrition counseling with patients who aren't sure how to cook delicious foods while managing their blood sugar. Lori has created such a gift for those with diabetes and anyone looking to enjoy nourishing, balanced meals that emphasize flavor and are created and served with love.

Recipes contain nutritional information
Well written and almost all ingredients readily available for the average cook. All recipes seem easy to follow and fairly simple to prepare. One of the better diabetic friendly cookbooks I've purchased.

Diabetic Cookbook Review
Although I don't have diabetes myself, my interest in the subject started when I was nearly diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my second daughter. My pickyness has also spurred a passion for finding delicious foods than are also healthy. I think there is a misconception about diabetic diets that you are extremely limited, but eat what you love Diabetes Cookbook by Lori Zanini RD, CDE proves that you can create tasty, balanced meals with less effort than you'd expect. The first chapter does a wonderful job of explaining how our bodies process food as well as tips and substitutions to ease the anxiety of balancing meals and make it enjoyable, which inspires a healthier lifestyle. One thing I've enjoyed that is different from most cookbooks I own are the plate icons for easier balancing of meals.I received a review copy of this book from the publisher.

I am so happy to have this cookbook
I am so happy to have this cookbook! The recipes are delicious, easy to make, and good for you! Although I am not a diabetic, I enjoy eating healthy without feeling like I am missing out, and the meals in this book allow me to do just that. The Blueberry Mint Overnight Oats are great for my early mornings, and leave me feeling full and satisfied long into the day, and you can't beat having breakfast ready before you wake up! My husband and I both also really enjoy the differentiation on classic meals such as the Creamy Broccoli Casserole, or the Old Fashioned Turkey Meatloaf with Sweet Tomato Sauce. This is a must-have for every kitchen!

Easy, Delicious and Satisfying
This is the very best cookbook. We have loved all the recipes, plus they are so easy. With a recent diabetic diagnosis in our household these recipes set us in the right direction. I bought a second for a friend.

Lots of love for a diabetic cookbook- who knew?!
I was intrigued by the book's promise of providing recipes for foods we love, but with a healthier twist. The recipes I've tried so far have done just that- healthier substitutes without compromising the taste. My kids love the cheesy quinoa fritters; my husband, the brussel sprouts; and I've loved all of the desserts I've tried. I'd highly recommend this book to diabetics and those just wishing to eat healthier without sacrificing taste!
